UGC Shares Status About Final-Year Examinations

More than 600 universities in the nation have announced their decision to either conduct the examinations after the recent guideline given by UGC regarding the examinations of final-year students despite COVID-19.

The Supreme Court also recently announced that it will make a decision after hearing the pleas of 31 students that have decided to challenge the UGC guidelines. The hearing will be in the next two days and it will be regarding the cancelling the examinations.

Around 168 universities have made the decision to delay the examinations further due to the uncertainty going on. Several states and territories have already declared an inability to conduct final-year examinations.

Out of the universities that have decided to conduct the examinations, around 300 are state universities, and another 300 are private. Of them. Around 566 universities have already conducted the examinations or have made arrangements to conduct them by September.

A circular in July stated that the examinations must be conducted at the end of September only. The reason it gave for making the final-year examinations compulsory is to maintain academic credibility and prudence.

The Delhi High Court has decided to request UGC to make the exams available in short questions and MCQ formats instead of long question examinations. Until the decisions of the High Court and Supreme Court, nothing can be stated for sure.
