The Government of India in the Ministry of Health set up a Committee Known as the “Health Survey and Planning Committee” on 12th June, 1959 to undertake the review of the development committee (Bhore Committee) in 1946 with a view to formulate further health programmes for the country in the third and subsequent five year plan period. The Committee recommended the setting up of six Postgraduate Medical Institutions in the country one each at Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Chandigarh to meet the increasing demand of teachers for the rapidly expanded medical colleges, specialties services for hospitals and need of the armed forces.

PGIMER B.Sc. Paramedical Entrance Exam - (B.Sc. (MLT)) 2018 Eligibility Criteria

10+2 (Science Group) (PCM / PCB) passed or its equivalent from a recognized Board / University. 

                                                     OR

10+2 (Vocational) passed in the respective stream i.e. Medical Laboratory Technology for course No. 1, X - ray Technology for course No. 2. 

                                                      OR

Three years Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology for course No. 1 from a recognized Board / University.

                                                      OR

Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Candidates:

a) Matriculation / Higher Secondary / Pre-University passed from a recognized Board / University with Physics and Chemistry.

b) Certificate / Diploma in concerned subject i.e. Lab. Technology for course No. 1 three year duration, Radiography for course No.2 two year duration, and Operation Theatre Technology for course No. 4, of at least One Year duration from a recognized Institute.

c) 5 year experience as a Lab. Assistant / technician (for course no. 1) and as Radiographer (for course No. 2) and Operation Theatre Assistant / Anesthesia Technician / theatre master or equivalent (for course No. in a teaching / research institute after obtaining qualification and experience mentioned at (a) & (b) above.

d) CSSR Assistants / who do not possess the requisite experience (Anesthesia) in a reputed hospital as such are not eligible for the B.Sc (Operation Theatre) course as Sponsored Candidate.

CRITERIA FOR ORTHOPAEDIC PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED

  • The candidate must possess a valid document certifying his/her physically disability. If it involve only one lower limb. It should have a minimum of 40% and should not exceed 60%.
  •  If it involves both the lower limb the total disability should not exceed 60% with a minimum 40%.
  • The disability certificate should be produced by a duly constituted and authorized Medical board of the state or Central Govt. Hospital / Institute.
  • The constitution of Medical Board will be one consultant each from discipline of Orthopedics, Physically Medicine & Rehabilitation and Surgery.

OBC CANDIDATE:

  • Reservation for OBC is made as per notification of Government of India issued vides OM No. 11015/1/2006-ME.P-1 dated 24th April, 2008.
  • Minimum cut of marks for entrance examination in OBC category will be 45%
  • Only the OBC certificate issued by the District Magistrate / Deputy Commissioner etc. will be recognized. 

SPONSORED / DEPUTED CANDIDATE

A Limited number of deputed/sponsored candidates may also be accepted for admission to the courses mentioned above. A candidate applying for admission as a sponsored / deputed candidate is required to furnish the following certificates from his  / her employer with his/her application for admission to the course.

a) That he/she is in the service of the authority deputing/sponsoring him/her least for the last five years.

b) That after the completion of the training he/she will be taken up by the deputing/ sponsorship authority.

c) That no Financial Implication in the form of emoluments / stipend etc. will devolve upon PGI Chandigarh during the period of studies of candidate. If he / she is selected for the course applied for Deputation / Sponsorship is accepted only from the following:

  • Govt. / Semi Govt. Institute / Hospitals
  • Institute/Hospital affiliated or attached to Universities and recognized by Medical Council of India
  • Public Sector undertakings

Deputation / Sponsorship of candidates by private nursing homes/hospital is not accepted.

Note: 

  • The deputed / Sponsored candidates are also required to appear in the selection tests.
  • The deputed / Sponsored candidates selected for admission to the course of the Institute are required to make their own arrangement for stay during the period of their studies. While forwarding the application of candidates, the employer concerned must supply the certificates mentioned above failing which the applicants will not be treated as sponsored / deputed candidates.

    METHOD OF SELECTION:

    • The selection will be made strictly in order of merit of the candidates in the respective merit lists of entrance test.
    • Overall rank of all the candidates shall be decided based on percentile scores, with a higher percentile score translating into a better rank. 
    • An overall merit list based on the percentile obtained by all the candidates appearing in the examination in the theory examination (irrespective of their category) will be prepared. Candidates of various categories who secure percentile in the theory examination, as mentioned against each category, will qualify for admission: 
      • General / Sponsored / Foreign National : 50th percentile
      • SC / ST / OBC & PWD : 45th percentile 
    • In the matter of selection, the decision of the Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh shall be final.
    • The selection of candidates will be made on the basis of their performance in the theory paper, carrying 100 marks, to be held for the purpose. The details regarding the composition of theory paper are given under item 5 below. Merit list will be prepared for each category of candidate viz. General, those belonging to Schedule Caste / Tribes, deputed/sponsored and foreign candidates if any Candidates will be selected for each course from the respective list, strictly in order of merit provided they are otherwise eligible.
    • All selection will be made on merit on all India Basis.
    • There will be written Examination and negative marking for wrong answers will be done to the tune of 0.25 marks in theory paper for all courses.
    • The reserved categories are also eligible to compete under the general category seats (open category). Thus, in addition to category wise list, a combined General Category merit list of all the candidates will also be prepared. In exceptional circumstances, if a candidate reports for counseling after his / her turn; he / she will be considered for admission only against the subject available at that time.

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    • Before applying, the Candidates are advised to go through the admission notice uploaded on PGI website i.e. www.pgimer.edu.in and the instructions given therein carefully. Fill online application form according to the instructions given in the prospectus and the admission notice. 
    • After filling up all the columns, the candidate will generate Challan Form and deposit the requisite fee in any Branch of State Bank of India anywhere in India. After that the candidate fill the Challan Form No./I-collect No. in the Application Form and take print out of online application form.
    • The candidate will fill Online Application form, upload latest scanned photograph (photograph with signature) and signature in available space on the Online Application Form. 
    • The candidate will upload all the scanned relevant certificates / annexures and fill the Challan Form No./I-collect No. after depositing the requisite fee.

    INSTRUCTIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHS

    • One recent clear passport size colored photograph with light background is required to be pasted on the application form at the space provided. Polaroid photographs are NOT acceptable.
    • Photograph MUST be snapped on or after 10th June,2018.
    • Photograph must be taken with name of candidate (as in application) and date of taking photograph as per the example.

    IMPORTANT: 

      • The photograph must be snapped with a placard indicating name of candidate and date of taking photograph, In case name and date are written on the photograph after it,the application will be rejected.
      • The name and date on the photograph must be clear and legible. 
    • Photograph should not have cap,or goggles etc.Spectacles are allowed.
    • Photograph should be pasted (NOT stapled) on application Form Use good quality adhesive to paste the photograph.
    • The photograph on the application Form should be unattested.
    • Application not complying with these instructions or with unclear photograph will be rejected.
    • Keep a few identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of Entrance Examination / Admission.
    • Any deviation or discrepancy between actual appearance at the time of examination and facial appearance in the photograph pasted on the application will make the candidate liable for rejection.

    All the candidates are directed to deposit the above fees in the branches of State Bank of India by filling the Challan form in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319 and candidates can also pay their fee through i-collect service No. 32222954695.

     State Bank of India will accept the fees of those applicants whose challan form is generated on or before 14.07.2018 upto 18.07.2018 at 15:59 hours.

    • The candidate should fill his / her application form available on the PGI website i.e. http://pgimer.edu.in. He / She should fill all the fields of the form. No field should be left blank. After filling online application form the candidate should deposit the application fee through challan form (Triplicate) in any branch of SBI.
    • Candidates can go to any Branch of State Bank of India with the fee Payment Challan duly filled in and pay the prescribed Application Fee in the “Power Jyoti” PUL current account of PGIMER. The Challan form is required to be filled up in the name of Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh (Examination) in the Power Jyoti Account No. 32211613319 and those candidates who have SBI account can also pay their fee through i-collect service of SBI and I-collect Account No. is 32222954695. In that case the INB reference No. will have to be mentioned instead of Challan No. in the application form. The fee for GENERAL / OBC / SPON / FN candidates is Rs.1000/- and for SC / ST Rs.800/-. OPH candidates are exempted for fee.
    •  The candidate should ensure that they submit the ONLINE application immediately after payment of fees. After paying the fee, the candidates are required to submit payment details in online application form and then submit final application form. The application fee is non-refundable. No representation / request / demand for refund of application fees will be entertained.
    • The candidate should ensure to take printout of application form after completing all details. Need not send the application form. Candidates belonging to Foreign National Category, Sponsored Category and Presently Employed candidates are required to submit their NOC from Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi, Sponsorship Certificate from Competent Authority and NOC from Employer respectively. The Applications of above mentioned categories i.e. Foreign national and Sponsored category alongwith requisite certificates must reach the office of Registrar, PGIMER, Sector-12, Chandigarh-160012, atleast 15 days before the commencement of the Entrance Examination.
    • Incomplete applications will not be considered, and no correspondence will be entertained in this matter. All particulars in the application form must be mention carefully. All claims made in the application must be supported with documentary proof.
    • No request for a change of category applied for shall be entertained after the submission of the application to the Institute.
    • The number of the vacancies where indicated are provisional and may be reduced / increased without prior notice.
    • Only foreign national candidates are allowed to deposit their application fee through Demand Draft in favour of The Director, Sector 12, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
    • Candidates must note that no other form of payment of application fees like Demand Draft, Banker Cheque, Money Order, Postal order etc will be accepted under any circumstances and without Challan copy will be rejected without any further correspondence with the candidates.
    • The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Tribes are required to furnish certificates from the District Magistrate / Additional Deputy Commissioner / Deputy Collector / 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Extra Assistant Commissioner / Chief Presidency Magistrate / Revenue officer not below the rank of Tehsilder / Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and / or his family normally resides. Administrator / Secretary to Administer / Development Officer (Lakshadweep Islands) in support of their claims. Not below the rank of its Stipendiary Magistrate.
    • The candidate in the employment must forward their applications through proper channel. In case delay is anticipated in the transmission of the application an advance copy of the application on the prescribed form, complete in all respects i.e. accompanied with all the documents and the prescribed application fee, if any, must reach the Registrar of the Institute before the closing date. The application through proper channel should also reach Registrar of the Institute within ten days after the last date fixed for the receipt of application.
    • Entrance examination/counseling will be held as per schedule. These dates will not be changed, even if the day is declared as a holiday or half - holiday by the Chandigarh Administration. Attending the counseling/counseling is mandatory. 18. The decision of the Director of the Institute in the matter of selection of candidates for the various courses shall be final.
    • Any attempt on the part of a candidate to influence the selection, directly or indirectly, will be treated as disqualification.
    • Selected candidates shall have to pay the fee etc. on the same day, failing which his / her selection will be treated as cancelled and the seat will be offered to the candidates on the waiting list in order of merit.
    • The candidates selected for the course shall have to furnish the migration certificate from the University / Institute from which they passed their last examination at the time of their joining, alongwith all other certificates in original in support of their qualification, experience, etc.
    • No individual intimation is sent to unselected candidates, and no correspondence on the subject is entertained.
    • No TA / DA is admissible to the candidates for appearing in the selection test/interview.
    • Private practice in any form during the course is prohibited.
    • There is well stocked and upto date library and a large number of professional Journals and periodicals are subscribed to be continuous at the institute.
    • The Institute is well equipped and staffed by faculty recruited from all over the country.
    • The period of training is strictly full time and ordinarily continuous at the Institute.
    • All admissions will be provisional till the verification / equivalency of certificates etc. received from the concerned Board / University. No stipend will be released till the verification of certificates from the concerned Board / University. 
    • Ragging is a cognizable offence, and is banned in the Institute. Stern action shall be taken against any offenders. Any one indulging in ragging shall be punished appropriately. Punishment may include expulsion from the Institute, imprisonment upto three years and / or a fine upto Rs.25000/-.
    • No hostel accommodation will be provided to candidates.
    • These rules are subject to change in accordance with the decision of the Institute taken from time to time.
    • In case of any dispute, the same shall be settled within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.

    Examination Day Instructions

    • Entry without Admit Card (Roll No.) will not be allowed.
    • Candidates must report at the examination centre ONE HOUR BEFORE the scheduled time of the start of exam. 
    • All the candidates appearing for the entrance test are instructed ‘NOT TO BRING’ water bottle, car key (Remote), chain, any mobile phones / pager / pen / wrist watch / ring / wallets / ladies purse / ornaments (Earrings, rings etc) or any other electronic device, even envelope of admit card to the examination hall. The candidates with these articles will not be permitted to enter in the .0examination hall. The examination centres are not responsible for the safe custody of the belongings of the candidates and they have to make their own arrangement for their safe custody.
    • The candidates are not allowed to bring any piece of paper or pen or pencil in the examination hall. All the candidates will be provided with the pen / pencil at the respective examination hall.
    • All the examination centers have been instructed to carry out the frisking of all the candidates at the entry of the examination hall / premises. Hence, the candidates shall cooperate with the examination centers / staff for such frisking. 
    • All the candidates are required to bring their Admit Cards and one ID proof.
    • No candidate will be allowed to take the examination without producing the Admit Card.
    • They are required to be seated on their respective seats 15 minutes before the commencement of examination.
    • Videography / Still Photography will be done during the examination, whereas Biometric finger print capturing will be done during examination, at the time of counseling and at the time of joining the course.
    • No material / paper including the envelope of the Admit Card is allowed in the examination hall.
    • Mobiles, Pagers or Calculators are strictly prohibited in the examination hall. Please arrange to keep them outside.
    • All the candidates are advised not to copy any question on a piece of paper/hand etc., if found copying down the questions from the question paper, the candidates will be booked under the UNFAIR MEANS CASE and his/her examination will be cancelled. 
    • If any candidate is found guilty of any breach of the rules mentioned in the prospectus or guilty of using UNFAIR MEANS, he / she will be liable to be punished by the competent authority.

    • Roll numbers and Admit cards will be issued to only those candidates who found complete in all respects. 
    • Roll Numbers / Admit Cards for appearing in the entrance examination will be available for download to eligible candidates approximately 15 days in advance and can be downloaded from the website by logging into their accounts on the website with their respective login ID. Roll Numbers / Admit Cards will NOT be sent by post.

    All the final results will be displayed on the Notice Board of Bhargava Auditorium of PGIMER, Chandigarh. 

    The candidates who qualify the written test are required to submit the print out of online application form, challan form (online payment receipt), a photograph and copies of certificates duly attested in support of educational qualification(s), experience, age/date of birth certificate, caste certificate, Fresh OBC certificate and NOC from the present employer, if employed after declaration of result and before the counseling. Candidates should sign all the documents forming enclosure to the application, and also put the date.

    MEDICAL EXAMINATION 

    Medical fitness will be pre condition for admission to any course of the Institute. Selected candidates are medically examined by a Medical Board constituted for the purpose.
