Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test 2020 or TANCET 2020 is the entrance examination for admission to MCA, MBA, M.E., M.Tech., M.Arch. and other courses. TANCET 2020 is conducted by Anna University, Chennai.

TANCET for the year 2020 has been announced by Anna University, Chennai and will be held from 29/02/2020 to 01/03/2020. The application forms will be available from 07/01/2020 till 04/02/2020. The exam is in written mode. The duration of the exam will be 120 minutes. It is being conducted in English language. Admit card will be available from 13/02/2020. Result is expected to be announced on 12/03/2020.

A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of  candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination. 

  • 10 + 2 + 3 / 4 / 5 years pattern OR
  • 10 + 3 years Diploma +3 years pattern OR
  • B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Pharm. OR
  •  10+2+AMIE* OR 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.*
M.C.A.

A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration with mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.

A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science / Information Technology) with mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduate level and obtained at least 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination. 10+2+3 years Pattern
M.E. / M.Tech. /
M.Arch. / M.Plan.
  • A pass in a recognised Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant field and obtained atleast 50 % (45 % in the case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.
    • B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. OR
    • B.Pharm. OR
    • Master’s Degree in the relevant branch of Science / Arts,  which are prescribed.
  • 10 + 2 + AMIE OR 10+3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE.*

* Candidates with Section ‘A’ & ‘B’ certificates (A.M.I.E.) and other similar certificates of professional bodies viz. Aeronautical Society of India etc., recognised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India and enrolled before 31.5.2013 are considered to be equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. Degree holders, only with 2 years regular full time experience in the relevant field after successful completion of the course including project work. An experience certificate has to be produced by the candidates.

    • Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC / SCA / ST candidates).

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    Steps to be followed for Registration

    • Click the 'Registration' link in the menu bar.
    • Click the 'Register' link
    • Provide the required information and press 'Next' button.
    • Now you receive a TANCET secret key in your mobile, which you have to retain till you successfully complete the application process.
    • Now login using the credentials, and provide other required details.
    • At the end, you will asked to confirm the details. Kindly verify the details and confirm.
    • Now it takes you to payment page. Do the payment online. However, those who claim fee concession under SC/ST/SCA categories should upload the community certificate before moving to payment page.
    • On successful completion of payment, click 'Status Check' link in the menu bar.
    • Application status can be viewed there.
    • Now, click 'Print Application' button, which generates a copy of the application in pdf format.
    • Take printout of the generated application for your reference only, and not submit this copy to the Centre.
    • Now the process of registration is successfully completed.

    Important Note

    • Providing wrong information in the application may lead to disqualifying the candidate from TANCET 2020.
    • Please read the information carefully before filling up the online application form.
    • TANCET 2019 Question Booklet can be obtained from the Centre for Entrance Examinations at the cost of Rs.25/- (by DD or cash) per booklet.

    Documents and Particulars required for Registration

    • Unique email-ID and mobile number of the candidate, which will be used for sending OTP and for further communication.
    • Tenth (S.S.L.C) Registration Number and Year of Passing.
    • Plus 2 (Higher Secondary) Registration Number and Year of Passing.
    • A passport photo of good quality either in jpg or in png format. The photo should be full face, front view, with eyes open. The head should be at the centre. The photograph should be in colour and of the size minimum of 2 inch x 2 inch (51 mm x 51 mm).
    • Copy of community certificate in pdf format. (for those who come under SC/ST/SCA categories)
    • Particulars required for online payment.

    The question paper will have sections to 

    • Evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify critically the data and apply the data to business decisions from given typical business situations. 
    • Evaluate the skill of the candidate in answering questions based on the passages in the comprehension. 
    • Evaluate the skill on solving mathematical problems at graduate level including those learnt in plus two or equivalent level. 
    • Test on determining data sufficiency for answering certain questions using the given data and the knowledge of mathematics and use of day-to-day facts. 
    • Test the knowledge on written English with questions on errors in usage, grammar, punctuation and the like.
    M.C.A.2 Hours

    The question paper will have the following sections :

    • Quantitative ability
    • Analytical reasoning
    • Logical reasoning
    • Computer awareness
    M.E. / M.Tech. /
    M.Arch. /
    M.Plan.
     2 Hours

    The question paper will have three parts.

    Part - I and Part - II are compulsory and under Part - III the candidates have to answer the section which has been chosen at the time of registration. If a candidate appears for different section, Part – III will not be evaluated.

    • HALL TICKET AND MARK SHEET: The Registration Number assigned in the Hall Ticket should be entered at the appropriate place in the admission application form to be filed with the respective admitting authority later. All the candidates should download the hall tickets from the Anna University website. 
    • Hall Ticket should be produced at the time of Entrance Test and also at the time of Admission. If the hall ticket is lost after the test, a duplicate hall ticket can be obtained on payment of 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 indicating the Registration No. / Application No. and the name of the Examination Centre.

    • Mark sheets should be downloaded from the website by the candidates within 10 days from the date of publication of results of the entrance test. The mark sheet should be produced at the time of admission. If the mark sheet is lost, a duplicate mark sheet can be obtained on payment of 100/- in the form of a Demand Draft, with a written request to The Secretary (TANCET), Anna University, Chennai – 600 025.
