Admission Registration

Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D. programme in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economic Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (English, Philosophy and Linguistics) and Physics for the semester commencing from January 2020.

After the last date, all applications will be screened and the list of candidates shortlisted for interviews will be available on our Institute’s website and shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email only.

Course	Minimum Qualification	Selection Procedure and Dates
Ph.D. (Biological Science)	M.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA / CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage / CGPA / CPI; not just in the majoring subject). Students with M.Sc. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in a branch of Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics can also apply provided they have an aptitude for research in Biological Sciences.	The selection procedure for admission to the PhD programme will be based on the performance of the candidate in the interviews which will be conducted in two rounds (Rounds I and II). Candidates shortlisted from Round I, will have the option to interact with faculty members in the department following which Round II of the interviews will be conducted for the final selection. During the interviews, the candidate will be evaluated for their conceptual knowledge and the research aptitude in the field of Biological sciences. October 25, 2019: Announcement of Shortlisted Candidates for the Interview. December 03-04, 2019: Interview of Shortlisted Candidates. Ph.D. (Chemical Engg.)	M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or an allied area with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage / CGPA / CPI; not only in majoring subject). Ph.D. (Chemistry)	M.Sc. / M.Tech. Mathematics in the 10+2 level is desirable. For an application to be considered in Physical Chemistry, Mathematics in the 10+2 level as well as in B.Sc. (undergraduate) is mandatory. Ph.D. (Earth and Environmental Studies)	Master's (M.Sc.) / M.Tech or B.Tech - M.Tech integrated Degrees in any of the disciplines of Earth Science / Geology / Geophysics / Atmospheric Science/ Oceanography / Geoinformatics / Remote Sensing / Chemistry / Mathematics / Physics / Chemical, Environmental, Computer, Electronic and Communication, Wireless Communication and Networking, and Civil Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA / CPI of 7.0 on a 10 point scale (overall percentage / CGPA / CPI; not only in majoring subject).	Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Date of interview will be communicated to shortlisted candidates by e-mail and the same will be available on the Institute website.
