The Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana

The Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. It is managed by the minority Christian community. Established in 1894, it started as a medical school until 1952 when the name was changed to Christian Medical College. It became an all gender medical college for the upgraded MBBS course which came into effect for its first admission from 1953. More than 2000 candidates have graduated from CMC, Ludhiana in the last 70 years and are serving in different parts of India and the world. It has 75 MBBS seats.

The Christian Medical College is situated in a 47 acre campus not far from Ludhiana Railway Station, on both sides of the Brown Road. Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore

Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore established in 1955, using the clinical facilities of the Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital. In 1961, the pre-clinical section of the college was started in Mangalore.

JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, is a Deemed to be University located in Mysuru, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 and focuses on teaching, research and health services since its inception. It has 200 MBBS seats.

More than 600 faculty members teach approximately 2000 undergraduate and graduate students as well as around 300 research scholars. Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha was founded in 1969. It was in 1936, when Mahatma Gandhi left Sabarmati ashram and set up his ashram in Sevagram, a small village in Wardha town in Maharashtra. In 1945, Kasturba Hospital was born under the leadership of Dr. Sushila Nayar. The hospital continued to grow under the care of the ashram from 1948 to 1969, when it was converted to a medical college. It has 100 MBBS seats.

Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, Pondicherry

 

The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences was founded by Madras Medical Mission to create a modern medical college. The hospital started functioning from January 2002. The college and hospital are built in a 45 acres of campus, very close to the Bay of Bengal. It has separate buildings constructed for Basic Sciences, outpatients and inpatients as well as a very active emergency ward. It has a lovely green campus with separate hostels for boys and girl. Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pondicherry started in April 2001, when the first batch of MBBS students was admitted.
