Salient features of Syllabus for CLAT 2024 UG Entrance Exam
CLAT 2020 is being conducted on 03 Dec 2023. Registrations are open and will remain open until 10 Nov 2023 11:59 PM. There are a few modifications in the pattern of the Common Law Admission Test (the “CLAT”), 2024. Please read carefully as we describe the proposed pattern of questions for each of the five specified areas that the Undergraduate CLAT 2024 (the "UG-CLAT 2024") would comprise.
Overview of the Syllabus for CLAT UG 2024
The UG-CLAT 2024 evaluates the comprehension, reasoning skills and abilities of the students. The CLAT UG 2024 is a 2-hour test and will have 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be negative marking and 0.25 marks for every wrong answer will be deducted. These 150 questions shall be divided between the following 5 subjects:
1. English Language
2. Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
3. Legal Reasoning
4. Logical Reasoning
5. Quantitative Techniques

Syllabus for English Language
Passages of about 450 words each, derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writings will be included can be read in about 5-7 minutes.
A series of questions will have to be answered.
Syllabus for Current Affairs Including General Knowledge
Passages of up to 450 words each, derived from news, journalistic sources and other non-fiction writing will be provided. Questions will be asked about examination of legal information or knowledge discussed in or relation to the passage.
Each passage will be followed by a series of questions about current affairs and general knowledge about and including:
Syllabus for Legal Reasoning
Here too there will be passages of around 450 words each. The passages may relate to fact situations or scenarios involving legal matters, public policy questions or moral philosophical enquiries and questions will have to be answered to Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage and application of such rules and principles to various fact situations.
Syllabus of Logical Reasoning
The Logical Reasoning section of the UG-CLAT 2024 will include a series of short passages of about 300 words each followed by one or more questions that will require you to:
Syllabus of Quantitative Techniques
This section of the UG-CLAT 2024 will include short sets of facts or propositions, graphs, or other textual, pictorial or diagrammatic representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions. You will be required to derive information from such passages, graphs, or other representations, and apply mathematical operations on such information.

- There will be availability of preparatory materials for the UG CLAT 2024, including:
- Guides to the question paper and sample questions, model question papers and
- Instructional materials and exercises for each of the subjects included in the UG-CLAT 2024.
- An access to a learning platform will be provided under your login where the above mentioned materials will be made available and your attempt scores can be visualized.
- You should read a lot to develop your capacity to read and understand bodies of text. This speed reading will help you complete the paper in time.
- Do read newspapers and periodicals to stay abreast of news and current affairs
- Practice with materials such as 10th standard mathematics textbooks to increase your speed.
