Applications for the Japanese Govt Scholarship Program 2021 are Open
The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology has started accepting scholarship applications from Indian students for an all-expense paid grant. This comes under the Japanese Govt. Scholarship Program 2021 which has been expected to pay for the fees of the college entrance examinations, matriculations, as well as the tuition in the university.
Students selected for this program will get a monthly allowance of 1,17,000 Yen. Along with this, they may receive an additional regional allowance of 2,000-3,000 Yen for students conducting research in specialized fields. They will also be provided airline tickets for Japan if the students arrive during the specified period of the grant.
The scholarship period will last selected students for a period of 5 years which would include a year of preparatory education to learn the Japanese Language. If the student getting the scholarship during the undergraduate course is able to enroll in a master’s course during the scholarship period, and is able to maintain an outstanding academic record to meet the eligibility criteria, the scholarship may be extended for the master’s course as well.
The deadline for the application is August 17, 2020; and interested students can apply at the Embassy of Japan, New Delhi. Requirements are that the applicant must have completed class 12th by the date of the application, and must be 18 years of age. They must also interested in learning the Japanese Language before arriving in Japan, and would have to apply for a student visa and admission to the University before April 2021.
Eligibility
The eligibility of the course includes students studying social sciences, humanities, or natural science. Students wishing to opt for engineering fields can also apply. Apart from this, students in specialized training colleges are also eligible.
Selection Process
The diplomatic missions of Japan will conduct a screening of the applications, after which students will have to appear for written examinations, and interviews. The test will have three subjects – Japanese, English, and Mathematics. For the students interested in the fields of natural science Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will also be tested during the interview.
