KEAM 2021 Complete Preview: Application Process, Dates, Exam Format, Cut-Offs And Syllabus, And Much More.

KEAM (Kerala Engineering, Agricultural, and Medical Entrance Exam) a state-level exam administered by the Commission of Entrance Examination (CEE) Kerala every year, for admission to Engineering/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ Medical & Allied courses.

 

KEAM was initially organized for admission to Engineering, Architecture, and Medical courses in the institutes of Kerala. Later on, with NEET becoming the National level medical/dental entrance test admission to Architecture and Medical & allied health sciences including agriculture students is done through the NATA/ NEET scores.

KEAM 2021 Important dates to remember:
 

Start of online application:-February 2021(Tentatively in the 1st week)

Last date of application:-Tentatively in the last week of February 2021/1st Week of March 2021.

Admit Card Release date:- Tentatively in the 2nd week of April 2021

KEAM 2021 Exam date:- April 2021

Declaration of the result:- May 2021

Commencing of counseling process:-June 2021

These dates however are tentative and may change.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

For Engineering:

Candidates should have qualified 12th standard with 50% marks in Mathematics individually and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry together are eligible.

OR

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or equivalent examinations with 45% gross in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry are eligible for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges or Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges.

 

For Architecture Courses:

The aspirants who have passed 12th standard from a recognized Board with Mathematics as a subject obtaining 50% marks in aggregate are eligible. 

OR

10+3 Diploma (in any stream) with 50% gross marks with Mathematics as one the subject in the examination are eligible. 

OR

The student who has passed the International Baccalaureate Diploma exam, after 10 years of schooling, with 50% aggregate marks along with Mathematics as a compulsory subject are eligible.

 

Along with the above requirements, the students must have a valid NATA 2021 scorecard to be eligible for admission into B. Arch course.

 

For Medical & Allied Courses:

MBBS/ BDS/ BSMS: Students who have passed the Higher Secondary Examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Biotechnology subjects with 50% marks in Biology/ Biotechnology individually, and 50% marks in Chemistry, Physics, & Biology/Biotechnology collectively are eligible.

 

BAMS/ BHMS: Students who have passed with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in 12th level with 50% marks in Biology individually and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects together are eligible.

 

BUMS: Candidates who have passed 12th standard examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects achieving 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects and 50% marks in Biology individually are eligible.

 

B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BFSc: Students who have passed the 12th standard examination with 50% marks in Biology individually and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects together are eligible.

 

B.Pharma: Students who must have passed the 12th standard examination with 50% marks in Biology/ Mathematics individually and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/ Mathematics subjects together are eligible.

 

BVSc & AH: Candidates who have obtained 50% marks in PCBE( Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English) subjects are eligible.

 

General criteria

Citizenship: Applicants should be Indian residents. OCI/ PIO cardholders are also eligible for the examination.

Domicile Status: Applicants applying to Keralite, Non- Keralite Category I (NK I), and Non-Keralite Category-II (NK II) have to produce a nativity certificate.

Age: Candidate should have completed 17 years of age as of the 31st December 2021(No upper age limit).

 

Exam Pattern of KEAM 2021
 

The KEAM Exam pattern of 2021 is as follows:

Mode of examination: KEAM exam will be held through offline mode.

Type of Question: multiple-choice type questions.

Total Number of Questions: 120 questions for each paper (480 marks total).

Duration of Exam: 150 minutes (2½ hours) for Paper 1 and 150 minutes (2½ hours) for paper 2 (a total of 5 hours).

Papers: Two papers – Paper 1 (Physics & Chemistry) & Paper 2 (Mathematics) will be there in the exam.

Marking Scheme:  4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

The medium of examination: English

 

Syllabus KEAM 2021 

A concise outline of the syllabus is as follows;

Mathematics: Algebra, Coordinate geometry, Logarithms, Matrices, Trigonometry, Coordinate Geometry, Permutation, and combination, 3-Dimensional Statistics and Probability, Theory & Application of Calculus.

 

Physics:  Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiations, Heat and Thermodynamics, Gravitation, Mechanics of solids and fluids, Oscillations, Introduction and Measurement, Electrostatics, Current electricity, Electromagnetic induction and alternating current, Waves, Optics, Atomic nucleus, Solids, and Semiconductor devices.

 

Chemistry: Basic concepts and atomic structure, periodic properties of elements and hydrogen, bonding and molecular structure, Solutions, Redox reactions and Electrochemistry, Polymers and biomolecules, Chemical Kinetics, Surface chemistry, Purification and characterization of organic compounds, Organic Chemistry, Hydrocarbons, Environmental chemistry and Chemistry in everyday life.

 

Application process:

·         Visit the official website of KEAM and register through a valid mail id and active mobile number.

·         Submit the personal details, academic details, and course details.

·         Upload the necessary documents(recent photograph, signature, and left thumb impression) as per the guidelines.

·         Proceed with the online application fee payment.

·         Get a print out of the application, fill in the necessary details and post the same along with the required documentation to The Commissioner for Entrance Examination, 5th Floor, Housing Board Buildings, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695 001(This step may or may not be required).

·         Application fees: For Engineering/Pharmacy/Both INR 700 for general candidates and INR 300 for SC candidates, ST candidates exempted from fees payment.

·         Architecture/Medical & Allied/Both INR 500 for the general candidates and INR 200 for SC candidates, ST candidates exempted from fees payment.

·         For both INR 900 for the general candidates and INR 400 for SC candidates, ST candidates exempted from fee payment.

 Cut Off for KEAM 2021:
 

KEAM 2021 Cut Off will depend on several constituents like the marking scheme of the exam, the total number of seat availability, number of seats reserved, the difficulty level of the examination, along with the previous year cut off pattern.
