What is NDA & NA Entrance Exam Pattern

To join as an officer in Indian defense Services, one needs to join National Defence Academy (NDA) or Naval Academy (NA), To join these academies one needs to take the NDA & NA Entrance Exam after class 12. This exam is held by UPSC twice a year.

Language of the Entrance Exam:
English and Hindi

Number of Papers
There are two papers in the Test. The first paper is of General Aptitude Test (GAT). It is held in the pre-lunch session.
The second paper is of Math and it is held a post-lunch session.

Duration of the Exam
Duration is of two and a half-hour session each

Type of Exam
The exam is of objective in nature and has MCQs.

Number of Questions
There will be 150 questions in the GAT paper while 120 questions in the Maths exam.

Maximum Marks allocation
GAT has total marks allocation of 600 and Maths has 300 as total marks allocation. There will be four marks scored for each correct answer and 1.33 marks will be deducted for the GAT paper.
Correct attempt in Maths will give 2.50 marks and 0.83 marks will be deducted for the wrong attempt.

Negative Marking
There is negative marking in the entrance exam. Thus marks scored will be out of a total of 900 marks.

Syllabus Details of Paper 1
Paper 1 is a Mathematics Paper. IT is of 300 marks and has 120 questions.
It consists of
1.    Algebra
2.    Matrices and Determinant
3.    Trigonometry
4.    Analytical Geometry for two to three dimensions
5.    Differential Calculus
6.    Integral Calculus and Differential Equations
7.    Vector Algebra
8.    Statistics and Probability

Syllabus Details of Paper 2

Paper 2 is 600 Marks. It has 150 Questions. Part A of Paper 2 consists of questions from the English language and is of 200 marks. Part B is of General Knowledge and is of 400 marks.

It consists of sections comprising questions from
1.    Section A: Physics
2.    Section B: Chemistry
3.    Section C: General Science
4.    Section D: History, Freedom Movement etc
5.    Section E: Geography
6.    Section F: Current Events

Important Note: NOTE : Out of maximum marks assigned to part ‘B’ of this paper, questions on Sections ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘F’ will carry approximately 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% weightages respectively.

NDA Exam Pattern for SSB Interview


The SSB Interview is divided into two stages. Candidates qualifying the Stage 1 are called for Stage 2 exam.
 
The stage 1 of SSB Interview comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT).

The stage 2 comprises Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference.

These tests are conducted over a span of 4 days.  The details of these tests are given on the website joinindianarmy.nic.in.
    
The third stage of the Admission process is the Medical Examination before the final merit list is announced. The NDA & NA entrance exam is a tough exam and one needs to prepare well before attempting it. There is no limit on the number of attempts one can make for the NDA entrance exam.  The age should be in between 16.5 and 19.5. years. As the exam is conducted twice a year one can attempt in the NDA exams a year up to 6 times.
