Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is a central University in the Capital. The university holds 16th rank in NIRF 2020 rankings in the overall class and 10th spot amongst the top Universities in India.
JMI offers UG, PG, Ph.D., diploma, advanced diploma, PG diploma, and certificate programs under multiple fields, such as Science, Arts, Commerce, Engineering & Technology, Polytechnic, Hospitality, Architecture, Education, and more. In addition to the full-time programs, they also offer distance learning programs, International Exchange Programme in collaboration with numerous international universities. The researchers at JMI have also developed a solar-powered disinfection tunnel to prevent Covid-19.
Admission to all the programs except the B.Tech program is based on scores secured in the entrance exam conducted by the university itself. Whereas admission to the B.Tech program is done via the JEE Main exam scores. In this article, we will be discussing the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T) program offered by Jamia Millia Islamia University.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT)
The JMIs Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is a 4.5 years program, that aims to prepare highly skillful and efficient physiotherapists who have absolute knowledge of the technical and practical aspects of the field. The BPT is a regular full-time course with an annual system pattern.
Eligibility criteria
A candidate should have passed the 10+2 examination from Jamia/ CBSE or equivalent with biology, physics, chemistry acquiring at least 50 % marks in an aggregate of PCB.
Mode of selection: Written-test (10+2 standard physics, chemistry, and biology)conducted by the organization itself.
Apply process:
Candidates need to fill the online application forms available at JMI’s portal. The application form requires once personal details, along with the academic details. Next is to select the appropriate program and category followed by the submission of the entrance exam fees. The application fee is INR 700, which can be paid either online or offline.

JMI accepts payments/fees through Credit Cards, Debit Cards, and Net Banking.
Offline payment
The candidates who wish to pay through offline mode need to make a Demand Draft in the favor of “The Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia”, payable at New Delhi.
Admission Method
1. The selection for the Bachelor of Physiotherapy is done through the rank/marks secured by the candidate in an Entrance Test conducted by JMI (for B.P.T.).
2. The lists of the provisionally selected candidates along with the waiting list, for admission, are displayed on the JMI official website. The candidates selected for the interview are also displayed along with their entrance test roll no. on the official website of JMI.
3. The date to appear for the admission formalities are displayed on the official website.
4. The selected candidates are required to bring their admit cards, originals, and self-attested copies of all the necessary documents.
5. The allotment of seats is governed by the JMI body itself.
Necessary Documents:
1. Entrance exam result.
2. 12th Board exam mark sheet in original and self-attested copies.
3. A valid Age proof (High School/Senior Secondary School's mark sheet).
4. Address proof along with the name and location of the nearest police station.
5. Proof of entitlement to a reserved category (if applicable).
6. Certificate from M.B.B.S. doctor/Govt. Hospital confirming blood group.
7. Certificate of No Objection by current employer. Self-employed applicants have to show genuine proof of self-employment.
The Curriculum pattern for BPT
1. Duration of the course: 4 ½ year
2. Total theory papers: 25
3. Total practical papers: 17
4. Total Research project: 01
5. Internship program: six months of duration.
6. Span period: No longer than seven years.
Examination Rules - BPT
Annual examination of theory and practicals would be conducted at the end of each session as described below:
· Mode of Theory paper: Written only.
· Practical: Written, Demonstration, and viva-voce.
· Duration of Theory paper: 03 hours
The BPT program comprises the following elements; Theory Courses, Practicals, Research Projects, Clinical Training, and Community and Field Visits. The final evaluation of the marks depends on these various parts.
