MHRD launched SAKSHAM portal for women

 

On the occasion of International Women’s day 2020, the Vice-Chancellors of Women Universities and women principals of Delhi colleges were felicitated by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on Friday. The Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal felicitated the heads of the institutions along with this, he also launched the SAKSHAM portal which is developed by the UGCC that aims towards the empowerment of women in the campuses. 

The SAKSHAM portal aimed to create an awareness of the existing opportunities and initiatives, support and the redressal mechanism. The web resources that can be Government based and United Nations policy documents are made available for the women student and employees of the higher education institutions through the portal.

Ramesh Pokhriyal, the HRD Minister stated that “in order to confirm the commitment and make sure that the rights and entitlements of women it is believed that a healthy academic environment is necessary for quality education for female students and employees in higher educational institutions.”

While addressing the SAKSHAM portal, the minister said that it brings together the information about the female-oriented initiatives and also provided a platform for registering complaints related to violence and harassment through the National Helpline Number that is 1800111656 in Higher Educational Institutions. Along with this, he informed that an email address and an ‘Upload your Complaint’ options are provided under the grievance redressal on the portal.
