The Supreme Court on Thursday i.e. 28th Oct, allowed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to release the result of the medical entrance exam NEET UG 2021. The apex court stayed the October 20 order passed by the Bombay High Court directing the NTA to declare the results only after re-examination of two NEET students.
After hearing the arguments of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for NTA, a bench of Justices L Nageswara Rao, Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai said, "We stay the order of the High Court. NTA may declare the result. We will see what can be done for the two students once the courts reopen after the Diwali holidays. Meanwhile, we are issuing notices. The next hearing of the case will be on 12 November 2021.
The NTA had filed a petition in the apex court against the Bombay High Court's order to conduct the re-examination for two students. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for NTA, told the apex court about the urgency of the matter. In the petition, the NTA had said that the result of NEET is ready but it is not being declared due to the order of the Bombay High Court.
