Important Notice: Candidates without specialization in the M. Tech can specify the specialization close to their courses of study or project or thesis. Candidates, who do not  mention the specialization, may not be shortlisted for written test / interview even they fulfill the shortlisting criterion. Eligibility & Minimum Qualifications

• Candidates with a Master’s degree in  Engineering/Technology with a good academic record or a Master’s degree by Research in Engineering/ Technology disciplines, with a good academic record.

OR

• Candidates with Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and of exceptional merit are eligible for the relevant Engineering discipline and with a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-JRF/ NBHM or equivalent qualification in the relevant area tenable for the year of registration. In the case of candidates with more than 5 years of relevant experience after the Master’s degree, the requirement of a test score may be waived by the Selection Committee.

OR

• Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with an exceptionally good academic record in an eligible discipline will be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. Program as a regular full time scholar subject to the following conditions: (I) B.Tech degree from one of the IITs, with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 on a 10.0 point scale. (II) Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology from any other University, should be among the top 5% or 20 rank holders, declared by the University and having a valid GATE score. (III) Bachelor’s degree holder in Engineering/Technology, serving for two years or more in a reputed R & D organization and having a proven research record.

Notes:

• GATE subject should be in relevant discipline. B. E. / AMIE / Other Equivalent exams are considered as B. Tech.
•  B. Sc refers the graduates with science background. The candidates with science background should select B. Sc in the UG column and provide their specialization in the box provided for that.
• Candidates with B. Tech in branches / specializations other than specified in the dropdown list should select others and specify their branch / specialization in the text box provided.
• M. E. / M. S. (by Research) or other equivalent exams are considered as M. Tech.
• M. Sc represents two years Masters after B. Sc.
• For regular MS, valid GATE score is compulsory.
•  GATE score is not compulsory for PhD, for candidates applying with M. Tech qualification. However, the candidates are advised to provide the details of the GATE, if they ever qualified in GATE exam. Others can skip these details in the application form.
• Valid GATE / JRF / NET score is compulsory for PhD, for candidates applying with B. Tech or M. Sc.
• If you have your grade in CGPA/CPI, represent your CGPA/CPI out of 10.
•  Candidates applying after B. Tech from IITs and having CGPA greater than or equal to 8.0 can apply for MS / M. Tech / PhD without GATE score.
•  Candidates interested in part time PhD can apply through the online portal. However, they are recommended to go through the details at http://iitmandi.ac.in/academics/part_time_phd.php
•  The eligibility criteria mentioned above is minimum and the shortlisting committee(s) may use higher cut-off levels for shortlisting.
