Eligibility:

  • CHRIST follows University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degrees) Regulations, 2016 and the subsequent Amendments.
  • The minimum eligibility of candidates intending to pursue a doctoral programme is a pass with a minimum of 55% in a postgraduate programme. Students who have completed their post graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from Association of Indian Universities (AIU). 
  • Every candidate has to take the PhD Entrance Examination and Interview to be held on June 15, 2019 or on June 22, 2019 or on any other date announced. However, as per the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degrees) Regulations, 2016 (#5.1), those who qualify UGC- NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/GATE/ teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil Programme shall be exempted from the PhD Entrance Examination. Those candidates take a Research Skill Assessment Test along with their Personal Interview. 
  • Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ SLET/GATE/ teacher fellowship holder (KSET, SET etc.) or have passed M.Phil Programme may apply for PhD any time of the year by sending their Research Proposal and CV to phd@christuniversity.in

Admission for NRI Student Category:

Students who fall under any of the following classifications, at the time of application may apply under NRI Student category and be liable to pay the fees applicable to the category for the entire duration of the course.

  • NRI defined under the Indian Income Tax Law
  • Either of the parents is outside India (except Nepal) on Work Permit / Resident Permit.
  • Indian citizen financed by any Institution / agency outside India, even if parents are Residents of India.
  • Indian Citizen who has pursued studies for qualifying examination in any foreign / Indian syllabus outside India.
  • Indian citizen pursued studies for qualifying examination in foreign syllabi in India. 

Note: If only condition 5 is satisfied, and not conditions 1 to 4 above,NRI student category fee will be applicable only for the first year.

Documents for admission

Admission will not be processed without the presence of the candidate and the submission of mandatory original documents mentioned below;

  • Copy of statement of marks of Class 10, Class 12, Undergraduate & Postgraduate (Mandatory).
  • Original mark statement of semester I & II / Year I, if candidate is pursuing a two semesters / one year MPhil course (Mandatory).
  • Copy of UGC-CSIR NET/JRF examination or SLET/GATE (Mandatory).
  • Copy of Transfer Certificate from last qualified Institution and Migration Certificate from last qualified Institution for candidates from outside of Karnataka (If Available).
  • Provisional degree certificate / Degree certificate (Convocation certificate) if candidate has completed / graduated in or before November 2017 (Mandatory).
