Eligibility: Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme of GCU (Assam) shall have successfully completed the following criteria’s: Candidate successfully completing 1-year/2-semester Master’s degree programme(after 4 year undergraduate degree) securing at least 55% marks in aggregate or itsequivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed. OR an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions. A candidate successfully completing 2-year/4-semester Master’s degree programme (After 3 years Undergraduate Degree), with the same conditions as specified above in the sub-clause above; A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Candidates who have cleared the M. Phil. course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent degree from a Foreign Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme. Reservation criteria: A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differentlyabled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Note: The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures, if any.
