7 Most Important Competitive Examinations for Commerce Students

The board exams of class 12 are an overwhelming time for most students since it is the time that is bound to define a large part of their lives. The fact that they have to look for colleges and apply for entrance exams does not make the process any easier for them. Commerce is one of the most popular streams in India, however many students who pick the field do not have a clear career path decided before choosing the stream. To fix that here is a list of some of the most important college entrance exams that you need to check out:

DU JAT

The Delhi University is probably the most prestigious university for commerce in India, and any student who wishes to take admission here would need to do so via the entrance exam called JAT. The Joint Admission Test is conducted by the DU for entrance in fields such as Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Economics (BBE), Bachelor of Financial Investment Analysis (BFIA), and more. The exam does not guarantee admission as there can be another stage involving a personal interview. In order to be eligible for giving the exam, you will have to secure a minimum score of 60% in your Board examinations with English and Maths as your core subjects.

NPAT

The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies or NMIMS holds the NPAT examination every year for entrance in its Undergraduate and Integrated Degree Programs. This is one of the best private colleges out there for all commerce and science degrees, especially when you opt for an integrated degree program which allows you to save a year or two while finishing your bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In order to be eligible for the commerce programs, you will need to attain a minimum of 60% aggregate in your boards or equivalent exams.

SET

The SET exam is an important exam that almost all commerce students know about. It allows admission in undergraduate courses in the Symbiosis International University.  The exam allows admission in various courses such as BBA, B.Sc. The eligibility criteria here is to clear the board examinations with a minimum of 50% in each subject.

CET

The Christ University holds an annual exam called CET to test the Aptitude, Comprehension, Numerical, and Reasoning skills. The exam allows admission in various interesting courses such as BBA, B.Com, and more. The eligibility for the examination is having an aggregate of 55% or above inboard or equivalent examinations. You also will need to have English as an initial core subject.

Xavier’s Entrance Test

Xaviers Entrance Test - The St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai is a renowned institution for getting business-related education. For admission, you will need to clear its annual entrance process which involves both a written test, and an interview. Upon clearance, students can take admission in the BMS or Bachelor of Management Studies program.

IPU-CET

The IPU-CET allows students to gain admission to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University which is also commonly called IPU. The exam allows admission in its 3-year degree in the fields of BBA and B.Com (Hons). The eligibility criteria are quite simple since students need to get only 50% marks aggregate in their board examinations, and also pass English as a core subject.

IPMAT

The IIMs don’t need an introduction for commerce students in India as they are considered to be the best institutions for management courses. Fortunately, candidates who score a minimum of 60% in their 10th and 12th Board exams (or equivalent) will be allowed to appear for the IPMAT examination which opens doors to IIM’s dual degree programs. Both IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak have dual degree courses known as IPM which allow students to complete their Bachelor’s and Master’s in Management in 5 years.
