Urban Planning is the collective effort of an area's complete renewal project. This process is known as developing the city strategically for the welfare of its citizens as well as improving their livelihood. The logistics industry is an on the up and coming employer. Urban Planning has become a significant field in recent years. Employment in the field of Urban Planning is going to rise by 13 percent by 2026. Overall, job opportunities depend upon how the government allocates the national budget. These days, there is a growing number of individuals engaged in planning work.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

To become an Urban Planner, a candidate should fulfil the following criteria.

•           A student must have Mathematics in Class 12 if he or she wants to enter the field of Urban Planning.

•           Students with a Master's Degree in Urban Design or Geography are eligible to apply for urban planning.

•           Those who have passed Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Environmental Engineering are also permitted to get enrolled in any courses of Urban Planning.

•           Various institutes conduct their entrance exams and interviews to analyze whether the candidates are eligible for the particular courses. However, here are the main entrances held all over India. The exams are - JEE Main, National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UPSEE), JUEE or Jadavpur University Entrance Exam, GATE (for Master's Degree), etc. 

 

Courses offered in Urban Planning:

•           For undergraduate courses, it is possible to choose B. Arch, B.Tech in Engineering and BA in Architecture. 

•           After M.Arch, one can also pursue M.Tech, M.A, D.Phil. etc.

•           Short term certificate and diploma courses are available for workers to pursue Urban Planning. Here are the common admission exams for these courses.

•           Regional planner: A Regional Planner helps to shape land use plans in a region.

•           Surveyor: The Surveyor has the responsibility of surveying land and then submitting a report to the city planner.

•           Economic Development Planner: An Economic Development Planner is a professional responsible for assisting in the economic development of a community, including the building, managing, and safeguarding the economy.

•           Resource Planner: A Resource Planner ensures that the resources are managed in such a way to meet the requirements.
