What Should You Expect from CAT in 2019?

CAT is one of the most anticipated entrance examinations in CAT 2019. It is an annual exam which is conducted by the IIMs – the most prestigious business colleges in India. CAT 2019 will be held on the 24th of November, and more than 2 lakh people are expected to compete for a chance to study business in the Indian Institute of Management. The fact that only 4200 seats are available is what makes studying hard for this exam even more important. Moreover, CAT is no ordinary entrance exam. It has an element of unpredictability in the question paper which can make one think that preparing for this is impossible. While it is true to a certain degree that you cannot be fully prepared for the surprises that may head your way in CAT 2019, it is helpful to know what you can expect from the exam. This will give you a serious edge over the competition.

Extensive Syllabus CAT 2019

This factor of CAT is extremely favorable to those with a good memory. CAT has a wide array of sections in its syllabus which require hard work and dedication in learning them. Luckily, CAT tends to go easy on the difficulty of questions, and sometimes gives a certain majority of questions from the expected sections. This may require you to solve almost every question from all the given sections. Luckily, you still have time and will be able to do so with an extensive study schedule and a ton of commitment.

Trickiness

While CAT does not usually give questions that are objectively very difficult when compared with other exams such as JEE; it does give tricky questions that require you to think of creative ways to solve it. The IIMs don’t just want hard-working students, but also creative ones. You can work on this skill by solving mock tests and also timing yourself with them.

Speed

CAT expects its applicants to be fast while attempting the paper. If in an ideal scenario, you know the answer to every question, you will get exactly 45 seconds to solve each. This, however, is something impossible. Also, it is not advisable to attempt everything since the exam pattern involves negative marks for incorrect answers. If you take longer than a minute on a question and still don’t know the answer, skip it.

Preparing while expecting the above will help you score higher than most other applicants in CAT 2019.
