Teaching is regarded as one of the most respected jobs because of a teacher's crucial role in a students' life. Without the friend, philosopher, and guide named a teacher, we won't acquire the knowledge and understanding of various subjects, especially the valuable life lessons that keep us going on in life.

 Courses to pursue getting a school-teaching job:

1. B.Ed. (Bachelor’s degree in Education): One of the most popular courses in India to be eligible for school teaching is B.Ed. One can pursue B.Ed. after completing the graduation and post-graduation in any stream.

Eligibility criteria: 

·         Graduation from a reputed university with minimum 50% marks

·         Post-graduation from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks 

Course Duration: 2 years (4 semesters in total)

Fees: 50K-2lakhs

Admission processes: The B.Ed. admission procedures vary from institution to institution. But the necessary admission process includes –

·         Written entrance test (CTET, UPTET, AP TET, TNTET, etc.)

·         Further document verification process after the merit lists are published.

Career prospects: Besides the school teaching option, B.Ed. offers other professional streams like –

·         Educational counsellors

·         Educational Researcher

·         Educational Administrator

·         Government exams 

Besides, B.Ed. Candidates can also appear for national or state level competitive exams like TET (Teacher Eligibility Test), CLET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test), SET (State Eligibility Test), NET (National Eligibility Test), TCT (Trained Graduate Teacher), PGT(Post Graduate Teacher), etc.

Course Duration: 2 years (4 semesters in total)

Fees: 40K (approx.)

Admission processes: 

·         Written entrance test (IPU CET, TISSNET, CUCET, BHU PET, ANU PGCET, AUCET, OUCET)

·         Further document verification process after the merit lists are published

Career prospects: Other than the general school teaching option, a M.Ed. candidate can be eligible for career paths like -

·         High school principal

·         Administrative assistant

·         Educational Researcher

·         Educator

·         Government jobs

Besides, after M.Ed., there’s are scopes to pursue M.Phil. /Ph.D. which opens the door for becoming a professor.
