Architecture is an evolving and artistic career choice. There is a huge scope in this field. Students can explore various opportunities after gaining knowledge in this field. Some of them are designing/constructing houses and business establishments, designing sites for exhibitions and sports events, creating unique lighting systems, and many more.

Possible Courses after 12th to become an Architect

1.    Diploma Courses: Students can go for Diploma in Architecture after 12th, which is a certificate-level course in the field of Architectural Engineering. The duration of this course is 3 years and students can enroll after the completion of class 10th or 12th. Some of these Diploma Courses are

  2.   Bachelor's Degree: It is an undergraduate degree in Architecture. The span of this program is  5 years. Students will obtain practical and theoretical knowledge about the area. Some of these courses are:

·         Bachelor in Planning

·         Bachelor of Engineering in Construction Technology

Admission Process

In India Council of Architecture is the main authority to control all the admissions in the Architecture Colleges, departments, and schools. There are only two main papers that students are supposed to qualify to get admission in Bachelor of Architecture. These exams are JEE Main Paper 2 and NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture).

Eligibility Criteria for the respective Architecture Courses

For Diploma Courses:

·         10+2 is the minimum requirement for the candidates who are willing to pursue diploma courses.

·         Candidates can even apply for an engineering diploma after completing the 10th standard.

For B.Arch:

·         Candidates need to score a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in class 12th with Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects.

·         The applicants who have completed a 3-year diploma after 10th are also eligible to apply for this course.

·         Many colleges require students to clear architecture entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, and NATA.
