How to Prepare for GATE 2021 without Coaching ?

GATE is the most popular postgraduate entrance exam for engineering students and has always been extremely competitive. Thousands of students compete every year to get into the college they desire by getting a high enough rank in GATE. Many of them join coaching institutes to help them get an edge over the competition, but for many, it isn’t an option to do so especially during quarantine times. If you wish to be on the path to gate success even without attending any coaching center, here are some tips that will ensure you succeed:

#1. Start Early

With the current lockdowns, students and exam aspirants have an excellent opportunity to prepare for their examinations. By starting early, you can finish your syllabus as fast as possible and reach the revision stages soon. This will also allow you more time to work on your weak points before the exam, which is something many miss out on.

#2. Prepare a Pattern

By studying your syllabus and exam pattern, it can be determined how much time you should dedicate per topic, and if some topics would require more or less time than others. This can help you prepare a study pattern for yourself and use this to keep yourself on track while self-studying.

#3. Practice Mock Tests

Mock tests are extremely helpful when it comes to exam preparation since they allow you to measure your preparation level. These will put you in the exact scenario as the exam and test all your abilities. Many online mock tests offer instant results which can be a bonus when you want to know what your weaknesses are.

#4. Practice Questions

An important thing to keep in mind when studying subjects like maths and science is to keep practicing the questions. While reading and understanding the theory and concepts is important, solving questions is the only way your brain will get used to them. Without this, even understanding the concept won’t help you in solving it all.

#5. Check Your Material

Having the right material for preparation is extremely important. You should be able to cover all of the syllabus in the books and also have questions for each concept. This will ensure that you will understand how to solve the exam questions for each concept correctly and can know where you stand strong during practice.

#6. Make Notes

When the time for the final revisions comes, you won’t exactly be able to reach out for your books for them. Therefore, it is always better to make easily understandable notes in a good handwriting. These will also help dissolve the concepts better in your memory. Flashcards can also be beneficial if you use them after each practice session for quizzing yourself.

#7. Stay Healthy

It is important to be physically healthy to be able to perform well on any given exam. You need to ensure that you take regular breaks in your study sessions and use them for some physical activity such as a short walk in your home or a few pushups.

#8. Get Help

If you ever feel demotivated or uncertain, don’t be afraid to talk to your loved ones for a morale boost or a fun break session. Staying mentally confident and focused on your goal is essential for success.
