Karnataka MBBS/BDS admission process
In Karnataka, admission and counseling process for filling Undergraduate Medical/dental seats is administered by The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore. The aim is to fill around 9795 MBBS and 3545 BDS seats in the medical and dental colleges of Karnataka. The admission to these seats will be based on the NEET 2024 score. Out of these seats, 85% seats are state quota seats for which Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bangalore will conduct offline counselling on the basis of scores obtained in NEET UG and 15% are AIQ seats which will be filled by MCC on the basis of NEET 2024 Score.

Admission Process
For admission to MBBS/BDS courses in Karnataka, candidates were required to register online by filling the application form which was available at http://kea.kar.nic.in from 07/08/2024 to 09/08/2024 11:55 pm . The candidates who were found eligible after verification of documents has been given high security secret key, the candidates can use this secret key to register and create a password as per his/her choice for login at online option entry portal.

For Karnataka MBBS/BDS admissions, total of three rounds of counselling will be conducted including a mop-up round.
Round-I:.
Choice filling: Candidates whose names have been displayed in the state merit list are required to fill their choices from of colleges as well courses, in which they want to get admission. There is no limit to enter the choices and candidates can fill the options according to their priority. The options entered by the candidate for the first round will remain the same for the subsequent round of seat allotment. The candidates will not be allowed to enter options again. Option Entry done before the first round will be the final list of options.
Mock allotment: After the choice filling process, based on the options entered by the candidates in the order of merit and by following the Roster System, mock allotment list will be published (To Be Announced) for the round-I. This mock seat allotment is only an Indicative seat status, which a candidate may or may not get in the real allotment. It will help the candidate to revise, update, add or delete the already entered options.
Option for change in choices filled: After the mock allotment, candidates will be required to verify their allotted seats if they desire they are free to change, reorder, delete and add to their choices of courses / colleges as per their preferences. All the candidates must enter their final options from (To Be Announced). After this, no changes will be allowed.
Seat allotment result: Based on the online choices, preferences, order of merit and seat availability, the admissions will be granted for round-I of counseling. The authority will publish the result of seat allotment for first round on 16/08/2023. Aspirants whose name will be displayed in the seat allotment result of round one will have four choices after the allotment:
ü Choice 1 - If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat and are willing to report at the allotted college must opt for choice 1. The aspirant will be required to download the admission order and make the admission fee payment. After this the candidate will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of counselling. If the candidate fails to report at the allotted college then the fee paid will be fortified and the admission will stand cancelled.
ü Choice 2 - Those candidates who are satisfied with the seat alloted yet want to participate in further rounds of counselling must opt for choice 2. The candidates, in such situation, will pay the admission fee but will be considered for the next round of counselling. If a higher option is allotted in the next round then the earlier allotted seat will be cancelled automatically. If a higher option is not allotted then the earlier allotted seat will remain in favour of the candidate.
ü Choice 3 - Candidates who are not satisfied with the allotted seat but are willing to participate in the next round of counselling. To opt for Choice 3, candidates will be required to cancel the allotted seat and re-order the already entered options.
ü Choice 4 - Candidates who are not satisfied and are not willing to continue with the counselling process.
Note: If a candidate fails to exercise any of the above 4 choices within the stipulated date and time then the seat allotted to such candidate stands cancelled automatically.
Round-II
After round-I of counseling, the counseling authority will start second round of counseling form fill all the vacant seats/ surrendered/ forfeited/ cancelled/ newly added seats. All candidates who have entered Choice 2 and 3 and who have not been allotted seats in 1st round of counseling will be eligible for participation in this round.
Mop up round (to be notified)
Candidates who have been allotted any medical seat either in first round (Choice 1 & 2) or in the second round are not eligible to participate in this round. Further the candidates who have been allotted any seat under All India Quota / Deemed University / ESIC / any state boards etc are not eligible to participate. Candidates who have not exercised any option / choice in the first round and any option in the second round are not eligible for mop-up round. Candidates who have joined the college after allotment of seats in the first round or second round are not eligible for mop-up round.
