In Maharashtra, the admission process for filling Undergraduate Medical/dental seats is administered by The Commissionerate, Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai and the counseling process will be conducted by Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai. The aim is to fill the 7220 MBBS seats and 3076 BDS seats in the medical and dental colleges of Maharashtra state. The admission to these seats will be based on the NEET Entrance Exam 2026 Out of these seats, 85% seats are state quota seats for which DMER, Mumbai will organize counseling based on state merit rank derived from NEET scores and 15% are AIQ seats which will be filled by MCC on the basis of NEET 2026 Score.

Admission Process
For admission to MBBS/BDS courses in Maharashtra, the online registration process has been started on 06/08/2026. Candidates can submit the duly filled application form till 15/08/2026 8:00 pm. To submit the application form candidates need to register online at www.mahacet.org.
Registration: While filling the application form, candidates need to register themselves by submitting the correct contact details, name and DOB, personal and academic details like NEET score and rank, domicile, category etc..
Uploading documents: Candidates have to upload their scanned photograph and signature along with the prescribed documents.
Candidates are required to take print out of the form submitted for further communication.

Counselling Process
For Maharashtra MBBS/BDS admissions, total three rounds of counselling will be conducted including a mop-up round. The admission authority will separately release the provisional state merit list for each round. The list will be prepared on the basis of NEET-2026 score and it would include the details like name, roll number, NEET overall AIR, NEET marks, percentile, and date of birth.
Round-I:
The admission authority will publish the provisional state merit list for 1st round on 18/08/2026. Candidates whose names will be displayed in the state merit list will be eligible to attend the first round of counseling. Candidates need to fill their choices of colleges as well courses, in which they want to get admission. The choices once filled cannot be edited. Based on these choices and courses filled, NEET score & rank, seats availability and reservation criteria, Maharashtra MBBS/BDS 2026 admission will be granted for 85% state quota seats for round-I.
Aspirants whose name will be displayed in the seat allotment result of round one will need to report at the allotted institute for document submission and medical checkup up to Candidate will have to compulsorily join the college and course so allotted, with in prescribed period by completing the requisite formalities of admission.
Choices for the candidates allotted seats in 1st round of counseling
Choice-I: The candidate who will be satisfied with allotted seat and does not wish to participate in further rounds of counselling will be required to fill the ‘Status Retention Form.’ Such candidates will be required to download the seat allotment letter and report to the allotted college with relevant documents and make fee payment. After this the candidate will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of counselling. If the candidate fails to report at the allotted college then the fee paid will be fortified and the admission will stand cancelled.
Choice-II: Those candidates who are satisfied with the seat alloted yet want to participate in further rounds of counselling must opt for choice 2. The candidates, in such situation, will have to report to the allotted college and the pay the admission fee but will be considered for the next round of counselling. If a higher option is allotted in the next round then the earlier allotted seat will be cancelled automatically. If a higher option is not allotted then the earlier allotted seat will remain in favor of the candidate.
Round-II:
After round-I of counseling, the counseling authority will conduct a second round of counseling as per schedule given above. Candidates who will not be allotted seats in first round of counseling can attend the round-II.
Mop up round :
All those candidates who will be granted seats in 1st & 2nd round and will secure the admission but do not fill the status retention form and those candidates who will be in waiting list or to whom the choices were not available during 1st round and 2nd round will be eligible to participate in mop up round.
