Engineering Colleges To Be Accredited By IIT Foundation For Accreditation and Assessment (IFAA)

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) had recently recommended setting up a company under the Companies Act 2013 to assist the accreditation process of engineering colleges in the country. The idea was put forward by the ministry in this year’s IIT Council Meeting. The new company named as IIT Foundation for Accreditation and Assessment or IFAA has been set up by the founding partners - IIT Madras, IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur. Primary work of the company will be engineering college’s accreditation. IFAA would take over the accreditation work of National Board of Accreditation or NBA. The process for appointment of CEO is ongoing now. The company will be free from any intervention from the Ministry or IITS, as stated by MHRD official.
