JOSAA counselling is a crucial process for securing admission to the country's top engineering colleges. Every year, JOSAA counselling takes place for BTech admissions and other courses at the IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. In 2026, it will begin in June, once the JEE Advanced 2026 results are released.

To complete the admission process correctly through JOSAA counselling, certain important documents are required. There are eight key documents in total that are necessary during the counselling process. Find out about all of them here, so that seat allocation and the admission process become easier.

JoSAA Counselling 2026 Start Date and Schedule

The JEE Main Result 2026 has been released, but the official schedule for JoSAA Counselling 2026 has not yet been issued. However, every year, JoSAA counselling begins 2-3 days after the JEE Advanced results are announced. This time, the JEE Advanced 2026 result will be released on 2 June 2026. Consequently, the JoSAA counselling process will also begin in June.

The purpose of JOSAA counselling is to allocate seats in IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government technical institutes. Typically, the seat allocation process is completed in six rounds of JOSAA. In each round, students are allotted a college and a course based on their rank, preferences, and seat availability, ensuring their BTech admission is completed smoothly.

List of Documents Required for JoSAA Counselling 2026

When the JoSAA Counselling 2026 process for admission to engineering colleges begins, you will need 8 important documents, which you must have ready:

3 passport-sized images (like the image uploaded during JEE Main 2026 registration)
Class 10th certificate (for date of birth)
Class 12 mark sheet and passing certificate
JEE Main and JEE Advanced score card or rank card
Photo ID (e.g., Aadhaar card, PAN card, and school ID)
Gap certificate (if there has been a gap in between)
Passbook/bank details (for fees/refund)
Updated OBC-NCL/EWS certificate (if applicable).

After completing the JoSAA counselling process, students must report in person at the institution where they have been allotted a seat to confirm their admission. If a student fails to report to the institution within the specified time, their admission will be cancelled. Documents may also be required by the college after the seat has been confirmed.
