Punjab State May Loose 100 MBBS Seats

According to College Assessment Report released by MCI, It has been observed that there is a shortage of faculty in government medical colleges in Patiala and Amritsar, which is one the basic and important requirement for the renewal of increased MBBS seats. Seats in these colleges were increased from 150 to 200 from 2014-15 onwards. The said observance was made after the MCI inspection in February. As Medical College in Mohali does not take off this year and Chintpurni Medical College and Gian Sagar Colleges lying shut it will be a setback for medical aspirants if the state loses 100 seats. MCI has sought an explanation and measures taken by colleges to fix these shortcomings. If the colleges failed to comply with the norms, the MCI will recommend cancellation of their increased seats.
