School Reopening Decision Held Until November

There were possibilities that the West Bengal schools could reopen soon. On 30 September 2020, Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee ruled out all such cases by declaring that the reopening of schools in the state will be held until mid-November. The home ministry also laid some guidelines on the reopening of cinema halls and theaters from 15 October 2020, which will allow the only population up to 50 percent of its original capacity.

The government of all other states has been provided notice on the reopening of schools in a graded manner after 15 October. The MHA will also permit the political, social, and religious gatherings beyond the limit of 100 persons. The 50 acre land in West Bengal has been allotted for the second campus of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University.

Mamta Banerjee recently stated that the state would consider reopening schools after the Kali Puja on 14 October 2020. This decision was taken while considering the students' health and reopening of schools only after the pandemic has slowed down.
