DNB PDCET 2020 Exam - Dates, Registration, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern

Diplomate of National Board Post Diploma Centralized Entrance Test 2020 or DNB PDCET 2020 is the entrance examination for admission to DNB (Anaesthesiology), DNB (Dermatology and Venereology), DNB (Nuclear Medicine), DNB (Obstetrics and Gynaecology), DNB (Ophthalmology) and other courses. DNB PDCET 2020 is conducted by National Board of Examination.

DNB PDCET for the year 2020 has been announced by National Board of Examination and will be held on 20/12/2019. The application forms will be available from 11/10/2019 till 31/10/2019. The exam is in online mode. The duration of the exam will be 150 minutes. It is being conducted in English language. Admit card will be available from 13/12/2019. Result is expected to be announced on 14/01/2020.

DNB PDCET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Govt of India i.e. have passed/Passing the final examinations for Post th graduate diploma on or before 30 November 2019 can apply for the Post diploma CET examination in the same Broad specialty.
  • Submission of proof of having passed/Passing the Post graduate diploma final examination on th or before the 30 November 2019 is an essential pre- requisite. In case the candidate does not submit requisite proof of passing his/her post graduate diploma final examination at the time of submission of application, their candidature shall not be considered for PDCET 2020 admission session.
  • Candidate found to be ineligible at any stage of PDCET will not be permitted to appear in the examination. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and/or being successful in the PDCET, the result/candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and/or is deemed to be cancelled as and when the ineligibility is detected.
  • Requests for appearing in PDCET from candidates, who are qualifying and/or getting their th results of the basic eligibility qualification after 30 November 2019 shall be summarily rejected.Candidates already pursuing a MD/MS/DNB course are not eligible to appear for DNB-PDCET till such time they have completed the duration of prescribed course or have been discharged from the course. Candidates who have joined DNB (Post Diploma) course in or after January 2018 Admission session are not eligible to appear in DNB-PDCET 2020 admission session. This shall be irrespective of their resignation or discontinuation from the course due to any reason.
  • Candidate who are qualifying their PG Diploma exit examination or and getting their results th th after 30 November 2019 or likely to qualify after 30 November 2019 need not apply in the PDCET exam as they shall be ineligible to appear in the PDCET.
  • Appearing in PDCET do not confer any automatic rights upon the candidate for admission at NBE accredited hospital / institutes.
  • Registration with M.C.I./State Medical Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished at the time of counseling.

    How to pay: 

    • The prescribed examination fee should be remitted through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or net banking. For more information, please visit the website
    • Candidates remaining absent from the examination will forfeit their examination fee. Candidates are advised to read the rule position carefully and satisfy the terms and conditions for the fulfillment of eligibility criteria before proceeding for payment of fees.

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    You can submit your application form for DNB-PDCET exam from the NBE website from Oct 11 th 2019 - Oct 31st 201

    The following sequence shall be observed while filling the online application form for exams:
    • Fill the Registration Form for Obtaining User ID and Password
    • User ID and Password will be then, sent through SMS and Email
    • Fill the Application Form and Upload your photograph, signature, thumb impression and prescribed documents.
    • Choose your test city
    • Make payment of fees
    • Take a print out of the filled application form with transaction ID printed on it. 

    Upon creating a profile, you will receive a User ID and Password on your registered email ID and mobile number. Using these credentials you can login as registered applicant to fill the application form. The application may be saved at respective stage and can be re-visited to complete later. Once the form is submitted, you will be allowed to edit the details in the Application form. Candidates may note that the following data of the application form is non-editable:

    • Name of the candidate
    • Date of Birth 
    • Gender
    • Category of candidate
    • Nationality
    • Mobile No.
    • Email address
    • Testing City

    Scheme of Examination: The standard of the examinations shall be at the level of Final MBBS (Exit Examination). The above scheme is indicative and purely provisional. NBE reserves its rights to alter /vary /amend the same.

    Examination Day Instructions

    Candidates MUST bring to the test centre the following documents. Unfair means case shall be registered against the candidates submitting false/ forged documents:

    • Printed copy of the Admit Card with photo pasted on it. AND
    • Photocopy of Permanent or Provisional SMC/MCI registration, to be retained by the test centre AND 
    • Any one of the following authorized photo IDs** (must be original and valid/non-expired):
      • PAN Card
      • Driving License
      • Voter ID
      • Passport
      • Aadhaar Card (with photograph)
    • In case, any candidate reports to the test center with e-Aadhaar card with Aadhaar number printed on it as proof of identity, the e-Aadhaar card should be a good quality colour print out with clearly visible photograph. The photograph should not have kinks, scratches and stains, and should definitely match with the candidate presenting the e-Aadhaar card. Decision of NBE in this regard shall be final.
    • **The name on the photo identification must match the name as shown on the Admit Card. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, candidate must show the relevant document mentioned below at the time of the exam.
      • Marriage Certificate
      • Divorce Decree
      • Legal Name Change Document

    During the examination candidates are given an option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review which means that candidate has been given an option to go through these questions again before the examination time ends. Candidates may note that such questions which are marked for review shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme indicated.

    More Information

    At the end of online submission of application form, the candidate will get a computer- generated acknowledgment at the registered email ID of the candidate. Admit card will be issued to the candidate once testing venue has been allotted to the candidate by NBE in the city chosen by the candidate during online submission of application form. Candidates will be informed through SMS alerts and Public Notice regarding downloading of the admit card th through website from 13 December 2019 onwards. Candidates are required to download their admit card from the website and affix their latest passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card. Admit card will not be sent to the candidates by Post.

    Declaration of Post Diploma CET results

    • The result of the Post Diploma CET - 2020 Admission Session is likely to be declared by 14th January 2020. However, this period may vary depending upon the time taken for preparation of results.

    Validity of Post Diploma CET results

    • The validity of the merit position / score shall be for the same admission session. The merit position / score obtained shall not be carried forward. Accordingly, the validity of the result of the Post Diploma CET, 2020 Admission Session shall be for the current session i.e. for admission to DNB Course in 2020 Admission Session only.

    Merit List for Post Diploma CET

    • All candidates appearing in Post Diploma CET examination will be ranked in order of the marks secured by them amongst other candidates of same Broad specialty. A separate merit will be prepared for each Broad specialty in which Post Diploma CET examination is conducted. For e.g. the merit list for DNB Obstetrics & Gynaecology secondary seats will have only Post DGO candidates as contenders.

    15th January 2020 Notice:

    Results of candidates who have failed to submit one or more of the documents as prescribed in the Information Bulletin for DNB PDCET 2020 admission session have been withheld. 

    These candidates are required to submit the deficient documents in their applications and clarifications latest by 31st January 2020. 

    The details of deficient document are available at Online Deficient Document Submission Portal for PDCET. Candidates can access the same by entering the Application Sequence Number for 2020 admission session and Date of Birth of applicant.

    The deficient document can be submitted only through the aforementioned portal. The original documents should be scanned with a scanner in .pdf format for submission. Hard copies of deficient documents are not required to be submitted. Incomplete/ illegible/ unclear documents shall not be processed. Documents sent through email at any email ID shall not be processed.
