National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate Courses 2020 or NEET PG 2020 is the entrance examination for admission to MD / MS / PG Diploma. NEET PG 2020 is conducted by National Board of Examinations.

NEET PG for the year 2020 has been announced by National Board of Examinations and will be held on 05/01/2020. The application forms will be available from 01/11/2019 till 21/11/2019. The exam is in online mode. The duration of the exam will be 210 minutes. It is being conducted in English language. Admit card will be available from 31/12/2019. Result is expected to be announced on 30/01/2020.

NEET PG 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates in possession of MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and possessing permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council and have completed one year of internship or are st likely to complete the internship on or before 31st March 2020, may apply for NEET PG 2020 through online application system at NBE website.


Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical Colleges outside India should have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) which is conducted by National Board of Examinations. Further, they should have been registered with MCI / SMC and should have completed their internship or likely to complete their internship on or before 31st March 2020.

Foreign Medical Graduates are required to bring their FMGE Pass certificate issued by NBE on their testing day.


It is not mandatory for foreign nationals to have temporary registration with MCI at the time of writing NEET PG. Foreign Nationals can write NEET PG without MCI registration. The Medical Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Graduate course limited to the medical college / institution to which he / she is admitted for the time being exclusively for pursuing postgraduate studies. Provided further that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered with appropriate registering authority in his own country where from he has obtained his Basic Medical qualification, and is duly recognized by the corresponding Medical Council or concerned authority.”

Candidates found to be ineligible at any stage of NEET PG 2020 will not be permitted to appear in the examination and / or counselling. In an unlikely event of any ineligible candidate appearing and / or being successful in the NEET PG 2020, the results / candidature of such candidate shall be cancelled and / or are deemed to be cancelled.

Requests for appearing in NEET PG 2020 from candidates completing st internship after 31st March 2020 or having qualifications that are not recognized as per IMC Act shall be summarily rejected. Candidates are further advised not to canvass for the same.

The cutoff date for completion of internship towards determination of eligibility for appearing in NEET PG 2020 shall be 31st March, 2020.

Appearing in NEET PG does not confer any automatic rights upon the candidate for admission at medical institute / college for MD / MS or PG Diploma Courses.

The dates indicated by candidates with regard to 12 months Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship in the application form (i.e. internship starting and completion date) shall be treated as final and candidates will be required to submit the original Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship completion certificate at the time of admission in allotted Medical College / Institute.

The cut off dates for the recognition of the Medical Colleges, from where the candidates have passed their MBBS Degree Course and completed compulsory rotatory Internship for the year 2020 will be as prescribed by MCI. The Colleges recognized after the cut off date prescribed by MCI will not be considered.

Registration with M.C.I. / State Medical Council is necessary and its documentary proof should be furnished by the candidates on the day of examination and at the time of counselling / admission.

Some of the Universities / Institutions are having regulations that candidates who are already pursuing the PG Course in their University or in another University are not eligible for admission till they complete the course. The candidates who are already pursuing PG Courses either through All India Quota or State Quota and are applying for a seat under All India Quota / State quota seats may confirm the eligibility conditions of that University in this regard. NBE / MCC / MoHFW shall not be responsible if such candidates are refused for admission. Such candidates may opt for the subject and the college at their own risk and cost.

A candidate can submit his / her online application form and appear for NEET PG 2020 only once for admission to the academic year 2020 - 2021. Candidates submitting multiple application form will not be allowed to appear in NEET PG.

The definition of NRI for admission to the deemed university shall be as per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 22/08/2017 in WP 689/2017.

    5th Feb 2020 Notice:

    Affidavit in Support of Government Nomination Regarding for Jammu and Kashmir candidates:

    Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided that Jammu and Kashmir will continue with existing scheme regarding admissions to NEET PG courses and not to contribute to the scheme of All India Quota. 

    Candidates who were nominated by the Govt. of India (under central pool seats) to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible to apply for admission on 50% All India Quota seats. 

    Candidates must be submitted a duly signed affidavit declaring that candidate was nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Jammu & Kashmir to the following address along with the print out of the acknowledgement of submission of online application for NEET PG 2020 latest by 10th Feb 2020. Scanned copy of the duly signed affidavit also needs to be furnished through email at

    Application Form Filling Instructions

    Online submission of application form for NEET PG 2020 for admission to MD / MS / PG Diploma courses for 2020 academic session is available at NEET PG website.

    Online submission of application form for NEET PG 2020 begins on 1st November 2019 from 03:00 p.m. onwards. The last date for submission of online application form is 21st November 2019 (11:55 p.m.)

    Candidates may note that there is no option for submitting the form other than the online mode, offline applications or printed copies will not be accepted.

    At the end of online submission of the application form, the candidate will get a computer generated acknowledgement. This acknowledgement shall also be sent at the registered e-mail ID of the candidate. All fields marked * in the online application form are mandatory.

    Applications of candidates producing false or fabricated information will not be considered and candidates may be further debarred from appearing in any future examinations.

    Candidates must preserve hard copy of application form for future reference Information such as personal details, educational qualification etc. provided by the candidates in the online application form shall be treated as correct and NBE will not entertain, under any circumstances, any request for change in the information provided by the candidates. The option of editing certain information entered in the application form shall be available to the candidate after the last date of online submission of application form for a period of 3-5 days.

    NBE does not edit / modify / alter any information entered by the candidates at the time of online submission of application form under any circumstances.

    Steps in online submission of application form:

    The following sequence shall be observed while filing the online application form:

    • Fill the registration form for obtaining User ID and Password. 
    • User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and Email ID
    • Fill the application form and Upload your photograph and signature.
    • Choose your Test City.
    • Submission of fees.
    • Take a print out of the filled Application form with Transaction ID printed on it.

    Submission of application form for appearing in the NEET PG 2020 is to be undertaken online at the official website

    Application forms CANNOT be submitted offline / printed copy by post.

    The prescribed exam fee of Rs. 2750/-* (for SC / ST / PWD (PH) candidates) and Rs. 3750/-* (for General / OBC candidates) should be remitted through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks in India or through Internet banking.     The cut-off date for completion of internship towards determination of eligibility for appearing in NEET PG 2020 shall be 31st March 2020.


    • Candidates are advised to read the Information Bulletin and instructions for online submission of application form carefully and ensure that no mandatory column in the online application form is left blank. In the event of rejection of the application form, no correspondence / request for re-consideration will be entertained.
    • Candidates may note that deficiency, if any, in the application form shall be communicated to them within 15 days of the close of the registration window. Candidate will be given one week time thereafter to rectify the deficiency and provide supporting documents if so required.
    • Admit cards to provisionally eligible candidates will be issued on 28th December 2019. Applicant candidates will be able to download them from the website using their login ID and Password.

    An ‘edit window’ shall be opened from 3rd to 7th December 2019 for updating selective editable information to applicants who have successfully applied during the aforesaid application window. New applications cannot be submitted during edit window.

    Following information in the application forms cannot be edited during the ‘edit window’: 

    • Name of the Candidate
    • Mobile Number
    • Email ID
    • Testing City
    • Nationality

    Requests have been received from applicants to allow updation in following fields due to  incorrect entries made by the applicants: 

    • Date of Birth
    • Gender
    • Category of the Candidate
    • Physical Disability Status
    • EWS status

    The applicants shall, therefore, be able to edit these 5 fields as well within the 'edit window'.

    Photographs, Signatures and Thumb Impression should only be uploaded as per prescribed  Image upload guidelines. 

    Submission of incomplete applications, incorrect information, upload of illegible/unclear/incorrect images shall invite rejection of applications.

    Please be apprised that NBE does not edit /modify/alter any information entered by the candidates at the time of online submission of application form under any circumstances.

    Communication Protocol: For any query/clarification/assistance related to NEET PG 2020 admission session, please write to NBE only at or NBE Candidate Care helpdesk at details indicated in NEET PG 2020 Admission Session information bulletin.

    The email addressed to NBE should mention name of sender, application ID, correspondence address and mobile number. Emails sent at any other email IDs shall not be processed.

    NEET PG 2020 Syllabus

    The syllabus for NEET-PG shall comprise of subjects/knowledge
    areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical
    Council of India with prior approval of Government of India. Kindly refer to
    the MCI website for complete document.

    The examination comprises of 300 Multiple Choices, single correct 
    response questions in English language only. Time allotted is 3hr 30 min.
    The question paper shall be divided into 3 parts (Part A, B and C) each
    containing 50, 100, 150 MCQs respectively. The distribution of MCQs in
    these parts shall be as per para 7.

    Examination Day Instructions

     Candidates MUST bring to the test centre the following documents:

    • (Unfair means case shall be registered against the candidates submitting false / forged documents.)
    • Printed copy of the Admit Card with Photo of the candidate pasted on it;
    • Photocopy of Permanent / Provisional SMC / MCI registration*, to be retained by the test centre & Any one of the authorized photo IDs** (must be original, valid and non-expired)
      • PAN card
      •  Driving License
      • Voter ID
      • Passport
      • Aadhaar Card (With photograph)
    • “In case, any candidate reports to the test center with e-Aadhaar card with Aadhaar number printed on it as proof of identity, the e-Aadhaar card should be a good quality colour print out with clearly visible photograph. The photograph should not have kinks, scratches and stains, and should definitely match with the candidate presenting the e-Aadhaar card. Decision of NBE in this regard shall be final”
    • Indian / OCI citizen who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualification outside India and do not have SMC / MCI registration should bring their original screening test pass certificate issued on NBE letterhead.
    • Foreign Nationals who are desirous to appear in NEET - PG are required to bring their passport (original & valid) to the test centre along with any other documents as a proof of they being a medical practitioner in their country
    • The name on the photo identification must match with the name as shown on the Admit card. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage; candidate must show the relevant document at the time of exam. 


    Candidates may note that the reporting time refers to the time at which the candidate reaches the Reporting counter at the test centre. Candidate who fails to report to the reporting counter by the stipulated time as indicated above shall not be allowed to enter the examination premises that is Reporting counter and beyond. The candidate should arrive at the Reporting counter at least two hours before the commencement of exam i.e. 01:30 p.m. This allows for security checks, identity verification, image capture, bio - metric capture etc. The reporting counter will close 30 minutes prior to the exam start time. The following shall be undertaken upon reporting at the counter:

    • Capture of left thumb prints – The left thumb prints of all candidates shall be captured electronically and candidates are requested to cooperate with the on duty staff with this process.
    • Capturing of digital image – As a security measure, digital image of the reporting candidates shall be captured and taken on record.
    • The invigilator / on duty staff shall guide the candidate to the assigned work station.
    • Kindly note that the reporting time has been indicated to timely complete the foregoing activities as well as to familiarize the candidate with the process.
    • Candidates may note that they will not be allowed entry to the test centre after 3:00 p.m.
    •  Candidates are also advised to check the requirement for mandatory documents on Testing Day and comply with the same.
    • NBE / Test centre / Designated Agency / Staff on duty shall not be liable under any circumstances for delayed reporting and / or non presentation of mandatory documents


    Candidates will not be allowed to take the following items inside the examination center under any circumstances. All the candidates will be subjected to compulsory frisking before entering the examination center:

    • Any stationery item like textual material (printed or written), notes, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, etc.
    • Any electronic device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, wrist watch / Health Band, Calculator, Electronic Pen / Scanner etc.
    • All ornaments like bracelets, Ring, Earrings, Nose - pin, Chain / Necklace, Pendants, Necklace with pendants, Badge, Brooch etc.
    • Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap etc
    • Any eatable item opened or packed, soft drinks, water bottle etc
    • Any other item which could be used for unfair means, for hiding communication devices like wireless / Bluetooth device, spy camera etc.
    • No arrangement will be made at the centres for keeping any articles / items belonging to the candidates. In case any candidate is found in possession of any of the barred items inside the centre, it will be considered as use of unfair means and action will be taken against the candidate in accordance with the relevant provisions. To avoid any hardship candidates are advised not to bring such items along with them at the test center.
    • Left / Right thumb prints and photographs of all the candidates will be captured and candidates are requested to cooperate with this essential activity to avoid any cases of impersonation. This is a security feature which will also ensure that only genuine and bonafide candidate appear for the exam and allowed to join an institute for training.


    • After verification of Identity and biometrics, candidates will be escorted to the designated computer terminal at the examination centre and a invigilator check in the candidate.
    • Candidates are required to keep their admit card and photo identification at all times during the conduct of examination.
    • Candidates are required to listen to the invigilator’s instructions to begin the test. 
    • No rough paper for any rough work shall be provided at the centre.
    • Each workstation will be blocked on three sides – front, left and right. Candidates are advised not to look around at other candidates as peeping into the computer monitor screen of the other candidate(s) will be considered as use of unfair means and may lead to cancellation of candidature. Please also note that there will be surveillance cameras that record video.
    • Any suspicious or disruptive behavior on part of the candidate may lead to cancellation of candidature.
    • For any issues during the test, candidate may raise his or her hand to notify Invigilator.
    • In case of any disruption, rest assured that a registered candidate will get to test again within the testing / examination window.

    At the end of the online submission of application form, the candidate will get a computer generated acknowledgement at the registered email id of the candidate. Admit card will be issued to the candidate once testing venue has been allotted to the candidate by NBE in the city chosen by the candidate during online submission of the application form. Candidates will be informed through SMS alerts and Public Notice regarding downloading of the admit card through website from 28th December 2019. Candidates are required to download their admit card from the website and affix their latest passport size photograph in the space provided on the admit card. Admit card will not be sent to the candidates by Post. The photograph should have the following specifications:
    • Size of photograph: minimum 35x45 mm with at least 75% coverage of face & head of the candidate.
    • A caption indicating the name of the candidate and date of capturing the photograph should be there at the bottom of the photograph.
    • Background of the Photograph: white
    • The photograph needs to display full front view of the face. Please look directly into the camera with a neutral expression.
    • Please avoid photograph with reflection or shadow on the face with red eyes.
    • The photograph needs to be printed on a high quality paper with at least 600 dpi Resolutions.
    • The photograph must not have kinks, scratches and stains.

    Each and every question in NEET-PG 2020 question paper were reviewed by faculty members from the concerned specialty after the conduct of NEET-PG 2020 to re-check for technical correctness of the questions as well as the answer keys. As per inputs from the faculty members, one question was found to be technically incorrect. Full marks have been awarded to all the candidates for that question irrespective of the fact whether that question has been attempted or left / unattempt by the candidates.

    The merit position for All India 50% quota seats shall be declared separately. The final merit list / category wise merit list for State quota seats shall be generated by the States / UT as per their qualifying / eligibility criteria, applicable guidelines / Regulations & reservation policy".


     The validity of the result of NEET PG 2020 shall be only for the current admission session i.e. 2020 admission session for MD / MS / PG Diploma courses and cannot be carried forward for the next session of admissions for MD / MS / PG Diploma courses.

    Kindly note that the registration of admissions for MD / MS / PG Diploma courses is governed by Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India with prior approval of Central Government and the Judgments of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.


    The eligibility criteria for participation in counselling towards allotment of PG seats conducted by DGHS or State Counseling Authority shall be in accordance with Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (as per latest amendment) notified by MCI with prior approval of MoHFW, Govt. of India.

    Individual score card for NEET PG 2020 All India 50% quota seats will be available for download at NBE official website 20th February, 2020.  

    Candidates who have studied MBBS from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for All India 50% quota seats. However, the candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to do BDS from Dental Colleges in former state Jammu & Kashmir are eligible for admission to All India 50% quota MD / MS / Post Graduate Diploma Courses.
