West Bengal Joint Entrance for Lateral Entry 2024 or WB JELET 2024 is the entrance examination for admission to B.Pharm. (Lateral Entry) and B.Tech. (Lateral Entry). WB JELET 2024 is conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board.
WB JELET for the year 2024 has been announced by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board and will be held on 29/06/2024. The application forms will be available from 08/02/2024 till 18/03/2024. The exam is in written mode. The duration of the exam will be 120 minutes. It is being conducted in English language. Admit card will be available from 21/06/2024. Result is expected to be announced on 02/08/2024.

WB JELET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
(A) Citizenship: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
(B) Age Restriction:
- There is no upper age limit for Diploma holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy.
- For B. Sc. Candidates, the upper age limit is 27 (twenty-seven) years as on 31.12.2024.
- For Diploma holders in marine Engineering, the upper age limit is 25 (twenty-five) years as on 31.12.2024.
Eligibility criteria for admission:
(A) Diploma holders seeking admission into Engineering & Technology Degree Courses:
- The candidate must pass Diploma in ANY branch from an institute approved by AICTE for admission in ANY branch of Engineering & Technology.
- The candidate must secure at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA in diploma examination.
- But for admission in Jadavpur University, the candidate must secure at least 60% (45% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA in diploma examination.
- All relevant norms of D. G. Shipping will be applicable for admission into Degree Course in Marine Engineering
B.Sc. candidates seeking admission into Engineering & Technology Degree Course:
- The candidate must pass B. Sc. Degree from any University recognized by UGC with at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBCB/ PwD) marks.
- Also, the candidate must have passed 12th standard school examination with Mathematics as a subject.
- The candidate, if admitted, will have to clear the subjects of Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Graphics / Engineering Drawing of the 1st year Degree Course in Engineering/Technology along with their second-year subjects.
- B.Sc. candidates will be considered for admission only if vacancies remain even after filling the seats with available Diploma holder candidates.
- B.Sc. Candidates are not eligible for admission into Degree Course in Pharmacy.
- B.Sc. Candidates are not eligible for admission in Jadavpur University through lateral entry
Both B. Sc. Candidates and Diploma holders in Engineering & Technology will also be eligible for admission to the 1st year Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in the 1st year classes in case the vacancies as lateral entry at second year are exhausted. However, the admission shall be based strictly on the eligibility criteria as mentioned above Diploma holders in Pharmacy seeking admission into Degree Course in Pharmacy
- The candidate must pass Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
- The candidate must secure at least 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC-A/ OBC-B/ PwD) marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Such candidates will also be eligible for admission to the 1st year Degree Course subject to vacancies in the 1st year classes in case the vacancies as lateral entry at second year are exhausted. However, the admission shall be based strictly on the eligibility criteria as mentioned above.

Examination Day Instructions
Before entering the Exam Centre:- Try to reach the exam centre one hour prior to the time advised in the admit card.
- Before leaving for the site, please have a hearty breakfast or light lunch depending on the session.
- Drink plenty of fluids; as in summers dehydration can set in affecting your performance in the exam.
- Have a cookie or a chocolate just before entering the centre; this prevents hypoglycaemia and thus helps you stay alert longer improving your results.
- If it is a busy centre, then don’t wait till last for the entry and security check.
- Centre will not allow you to enter after the stipulated time of closing the doors.
- Admission to the Exam Centre is with the Admit Card; no candidates shall be admitted to the test without the production of the Admit Card at the Test Centre.
- Usually no bags are allowed.
- No eatables are allowed.
- No communication equipment such as mobile phones / pager / wireless set / scanner / camera or any such electronic / digital gadget etc are allowed in the exam centre; carrying one will lead to disqualification.
After entering the centre:
- Once candidates enter the centre, they should locate their designated hall and seat.
- After all the formalities, candidates should enter the allotted hall and take the designated seat.
- For Objective Type question papers, rough work is to be done in the space provided for this purpose. No rough work is allowed on the OMR Answer Sheet under any situation.
- Questions have to be answered on the answer sheet only.
- Copying, use of unfair means of any kind, talking, asking questions from other candidates or borrowing of material inside the Test Centre is strictly prohibited.
- The candidates are to return their OMR answer-sheets and the question paper in full to the Centre Superintendent. Tearing or taking away of the question paper is not allowed failing which the candidates shall be disqualified from the entire Entrance Test.
- Misbehaviour of any kind can lead to expulsion of the candidate.
- Caught copying helping in copying will mean cancellation of the answer sheet / cancellation of the candidature.
- Marking the answer sheet or question paper in any way will also lead to cancellation of the exam for that candidate.
