A career in the bank is always in demand. Because there is always a demand for hiring people who know about the financial process and can handle situations in the bank. And the banking sector has a good chance of growth in the future. This is the reason that many students want to pursue their career in the banking sector after the 12th examination. 

Students having different academic backgrounds can pursue a career in a bank. Candidates having arts, commerce, business, or engineering can easily opt for banking by completing banking courses in their graduation. Some banks offer the courses themselves for hire Except for them, the business administration colleges also offer banking courses.

An aspirant can also appear for the entrance examinations for banking posts. Candidates can prepare to appear in the Bank PO examinations. Students can give the IBPS PO examination to get into the government banks. The SBI conducts its own exam SBI PO to recruit candidates.

Eligibility criteria to apply for banking:

As we can see there are a lot of different courses that a candidate can apply for. And each course has different criteria for eligibility. Also, to appear for the banking entrance examinations, a candidate must fulfill all the requirements. The details of the eligibility criteria for both are discussed elaborately below:

Criteria for Bank PO exams:

•          Candidates must pass their graduation examination with at least 60% marks.

•          Candidates need to qualify both the stages of mains and prelims will only qualify for the group discussion and the personal interview round.

•          The candidate’s combined score of PO mains, PO prelims, GD, and PI will be considered. Some banks have different criteria for having a one-year diploma course in a designated institute.

•          Government banks recruit candidates who qualify in all the exams and also have passed the PI round after 3 to 6 months of training in the banks. Other banks consider the diploma course certificate and give training for 3 to 6 months as well.

Criteria for MBA and 2-year PGDM courses:

•          Candidates having a minimum of 60% score in the graduation level and also a good academic background can only apply for this course.

•          Mostly the selection procedure is held through CAT examination.

•          Candidates who qualify for the exams are only called for personal interviews and group exercises. This checks the skills of the qualified candidates.

Criteria for Certificate Programmes:

•          The candidate must pass their graduation examination. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% marks in the graduation level.

•          Candidates are often selected through the personal interview round.

•          Some other institutes organize their own entrance exams to select candidates.

Criteria for Short-term PG Diploma courses:

•          Candidates must score a minimum of 50% in their graduation level.

•          Institutes arrange their personal entrance exams and personal interview sessions to select the candidates.
