Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a National Level Exam that is conducted by the Indian Air Force twice a year. It is usually conducted in February and August/September. This year AFCAT will be conducted on 20 and 21st february . The admit cards will be released after 5th February.This test is conducted for selecting Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non- Technical). Graduate, BCom, BE/ BTech pass can apply till January 11. Both male anfd female candidates can join Indian Air Force for Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission/ Short Service Commission in Ground Duties in both Technical and Non Technical roles.
Eligibility
Candidates need to fulfill the following criteria:
• Only the citizens of India are allowed to give this exam.
• Age Limit for different branches is different.
Flying Branch
• Minimum 60% in Maths and Physics in Class 12th
• Graduation in any discipline with at least 60% or equivalent or BE/BTech with 60%
Ground Duty Technical Branch
Aeronautical Engineer( Electronics):
• Passed Class 10+2 with 60% marks in Physics and Maths and 4 years degree Engineering/Technology
Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical):
• Candidates must have passed 10+2 with 60% in Physics and Maths and Degree/ integrated post-graduation in Engineering/Technology
Ground Duty (Non- Technical) branches
Administration:
• Completed graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or
• Cleared section A&B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers with a good grade.
Education:
MBA/MCA or MA/MSc in English/Physics/Maths/Chemistry/Statistics/International Studies/Journalism/Computer Science or any related subject with 50% and 60% in graduation.
Application Process & Admit Card:
The application form was available from 1st december till 30, 2020. The cost of the form was Rs. 250. Students need to fill this form through an online mode and submit it. The admit cards will be released on the official website. Candidates can download it by logging into their accounts. These admit cards will carry all the necessary information that will be required on the examination day.
Physical and Medical Standards:
Candidates should be physically and mentally fit to be eligible to sit for the exam. They should be unmarried and below 25 years of age. Married and above 25 candidates can apply but will not be provided accommodation facilities for their spouses during the training period. Candidates need to fulfill the above-mentioned criteria otherwise, their application will be rejected.
Syllabus and Exam Pattern
Air Force Common Admission Test is divided into 4 sections that includes General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude Test.
EKT ( Engineering Knowledge Test) is subdivided into Mechanical, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics.
AFCAT is conducted in online mode. The total marks allotted for AFCAT are 300 and for EKT 150. The duration of the AFCAT exam is 2 hours that comprises 100 questions.
The duration of the EKT Exam is 45 minutes for 50 questions. All the questions in the exam are the objective type where applicants will get multiple options to choose their answer from.
3 Marks will be allotted to one right answer and 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. The language of the paper is English.
Selection Process
Selection from the applied candidates is based upon their performance in the online exam and Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview. Candidates who opt for Ground Duty Technical Branches are selected based on both AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT). Candidates are finally selected after the medical test.
