There are a total of 170 government and private nursing colleges in Andhra Pradesh offering BSc Nursing training. BSc in nursing is a four year course. More than 6000 seats are offered for admission in these 170 colleges for BSc admissions in nursing each year.
A total of 34 nursing colleges in Andhra Pradesh offer post basic BSc nursing course. More than 1000 seats are available for admission each year. The course is of two year duration.
Admission Process for BSc and Post Basic BSc Nursing in Andhra Pradesh
Admissions to both the courses id one through an entrance exam held by the government of Andhra Pradesh each year. NTR University holds this exam. This exam is called NTRUHS Nursing Entrance Exam. Once the exam is held then the admissions take place through a counselling process of a few rounds. The admission is based on the merit of the students as well as the preference for nursing college.

Eligibility Criteria for BSc Nursing 4 Years Degree Course:
- Minimum age is 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought.
- 10+2 with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) and English individually.
- Intermediate Vocational course with Bridge Course in Biological and Physical Sciences.
- Should have secured minimum 45% marks in Science Subjects and minimum 40% in case of SC, ST and BC candidates.
- English is compulsory
- Must be medically fit
- 85% of the BSc nursing seats in AP are reserved for Andhra Domicile students. 15% can be availed of by students of other states
Andhra Pradesh Post Basic BSc Nursing Eligibility Criteria
- Must be citizen of India
- Or Persons of Indian origin or Foreign Nationals or Overseas Citizen of India cardholders with no objection certificates from nursing council of India
- Must have cleared class 12th from a recognised board
- Or must have completed equivalent exam of 10+2 pattern recognised by at least one of the following: the universities of Andhra Pradesh, APOSS (Andhra Pradesh Open School Society) or NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling), as per the regulations of the Indian Nursing Council.
- All genders can apply.
- Must have completed General Nursing and Midwifery from an institution recognized by Government of Andhra Pradesh or by the Nursing Council of India.
- Must be registered with the State Nursing Council.
- Government Service candidates must have completed two years of service as a staff nurse in the Medical and Health Department and the Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad as on the 31st of August of the year.
- Must be regular employees
- Must have a service certificate issued by the respective employer
- Must not be less than 17 years and more than 45 years of age as on 31st of December.
- SC and ST candidates are given relaxation of three years.
