Declaration of UPSC Engineering Service Results

The result for the Indian Engineering Service exam (IES) has been declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on October 25th, 2019. The exam result is out in pdf format document, where only 494 candidates are recommended for Engineering Services. However, the present vacancies of 553 is more than the 494 student recommendation.The UPSC exam is conducted for four departments of Engineering that are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, and Telecommunication Engineering. Interestingly the vacancies were announced to be 581 as of June 2019 but were soon reduced to 553. However, in the final result, only 494 candidates were recommended just shy of 500. The final result was declared on October 25, 2019.

 The result is declared branch wise and category wise.A total of 233 Civil engineering students have been recommended for appointment while 87 mechanical engineers,  86 electrical engineers and 88 electronic and telecommunication engineers have been recommended. Apart from these 27 Civil engineers, 9 mechanical engineers, 13 electrical engineering and 17 electronics and telecommunication engineering candidates have been recommended provisionally. The result is valid for only 3 months that is till 25 January 2020.

A 200 marks personality test was conducted in September-October 2019 for IES 2019 exam, while the main test was held on June 30, 2019, in 24 centers across the whole nation. The candidates have to complete two traditional subjective based question paper for 300 marks each. After this, the qualified candidates give the personality test. There is a prefatory test as well which was held on January 6, 2019. However, the result from this test is taken into consideration of the final merit list as well.

All the candidates those who are recommended should have their documents verified with UPSC and furthermore are required to present their original documents as well. The appointment letter will be given once the document verification and the submission of original documents have been done. There is also a reserved list of 114 candidates which has been released for the IES 2019 Exam. The name of these 114 candidates haven’t been disclosed yet.This Preliminary exam is also conducted with two question papers which are General studies for 200 marks, which is the same for all the category subject candidates;  and Engineering aptitude for 300 marks with category-specific question paper.
