Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) is a highly competitive entrance exam in India. It is held annually. In 2026, it will be held on May 17, 2026. JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Day Guidelines
On the day of the JEE Advanced 2026 Exam, candidates are supposed to follow these instructions to make sure that everything goes smoothly.
Carrying important documents
They are supposed to take along a valid original photo identity card and a printed copy of their downloaded admit card.
Arrive on time
On exam day, entry to the exam hall will be allowed at 7:00 am. Applicants need to report well in advance at the exam centre hall, to have enough time to be checked and allowed entry. Those who come late will not be permitted to enter the hall and sit for the examination.
Go through checking
Checking is mandatory and applicants must take care not to carry anything other than their aforementioned documents and pens, pencils and transparent drinking water bottle. Nothing else will be allowed inside the exam hall.
Refraining from using unfair means
Use of any such means or impersonation during the exam are regarded as serious offences. If applicants are found to be doing so, they will be barred from appearing for JEE Advanced 2026 and all procedures related to the admission. Such acts may also invite legal action from the authorities. Impersonators should take note; both exam invigilators and IIT representatives will verify the identity of the applicant at the examination hall. In case of any doubt regarding identity, the applicant concerned may not be allowed an entry. As this is one of the most competitive engineering entrance examinations in India, no risks are likely to be taken at any stage.
JEE Advanced 2026 Exam Day Dress Code
Applicants should go dressed in light-coloured, half-sleeved clothing such as simple shirts or t-shirts. Shoes are strictly prohibited. Only open footwear such as floaters, slippers or sandals is allowed.
According to the exam body, JEE Advanced candidates should also avoid wearing any charm, 'taweez' (talisman), or some other item that contains metals. These include objects like:

· Earrings,
· Chain,
· Brooch,
· Nose pin,
· Necklace,
· Badge,
· Pendant, or
· Clothes with big buttons
Candidates should also note that electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, smart watches, health bands, pagers, microphones, earphones and Bluetooth devices should not be taken to the exam hall. Quite a few other items are not allowed, such as:
