Bachelor of Management Studies is one of the top courses and tops the list of many commerce aspirants to pursue after class 12th. The overall course structure is very much similar to that of BBA i.e. Bachelor in Business Administration. The only comparable and noticeable difference between both the courses is that BMS is more focused on application whereas BBA traditional covers all aspects and imparts knowledge.

Both BMS and BBA are a three-year program offered by some of the top institutes across India such as Delhi University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management, Symbiosis, and many more. You will get to study various subjects such as Human Resource, Marketing, Finance and accounting, statistics and analysis, decision making and a lot of foundation level subjects in your first two years and the final year, you will be offered a specialization out of which you will have to pick one. Generally, the specializations are offered in Finance, Marketing, Global Business, and Human Resource Management.

1.Under the University of Delhi

These colleges are in order of their popularity for the course. Admission into these colleges is based on an entrance exam popularly known as DU JAT - Delhi University Joint Entrance Test. 

To sit for the exam the student should have completed class 12th with mathematics. It is a 400 mark paper that tests the student on Quantitative ability, English, Logical and analytics, and GK. Ranks are allotted to the students based on 65% scored in DU JAT and 35% in 12th exams.

All the colleges have limited seats and reservation applies to them. Sri Guru Gobind Singh College Of Commerce also has a Sikh reservation and Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women (girls) accepts only female candidates. 

The fee structure for the program varies from college to college. It depends on the funding it gets from UGC. generally, the fees range from 56,000 to 25,000 per year.

 

2. ST. XAVIER’S COLLEGE, MUMBAI

St Xavier’s college is one of the top colleges in our country offering this premium program. If you are someone from Mumbai, Xaviers has to be your first choice.  Admission to the program is based on Xavier’s Entrance Test which usually happens in the month of June-July. 

The competition to get into the college is extremely tough especially if you are from the general category non-christian. There are seat reservations and reservations for Christian students as well. This makes only 10-12 seats for General Non- Christian students. The fee for the program is 30,000 Per Annum. 

 

3. BBA AT NARSEE MONJEE INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

NMIMS is considered one of the best colleges for their undergraduate and postgraduate management programs. The college offers you multiple options, either you can take up a 3-year bachelor's degree in business administration or you can do a 5 year integrated program BBA + MBA. Admission to the course depends on the entrance exam popularly known as NPAT. 

The college offers specialization in all areas such as HR, Marketing, Finance but is popular and known for Marketing.

The fees for BBA are approximately 3.5 Lakhs per annum and for the integrated program, it is 6 lakhs for the First Year. 

 

4. IPM AT IIM INDORE AND ROHTAK

IPM is a 5-year integrated program in BBA+MBA. It is offered by two of the very renowned premium institutes i.e Indian Institute of Management Indore and Indian Institute of Management Rohtak. To take admission into the program when you have to write the IPMAT Exam. It is a three-section paper that tests the candidate on verbal ability, Logical Reasoning, and quantitative ability. 

The fee for the program is approximately 4 lakhs per annum. 

 

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES AFTER BMS/ BBA

The best part about doing the course is that you can take up any commerce field after you have done your graduation. You can be an entrepreneur and start your own business. You can jump into finance roles, analyst roles, sales and marketing executive jobs, and HR jobs. 

Nothing will tie you up and you can explore further. You can do specific programs such as CA, CS, or Law after or with your BMS and BBA. 

If not a job, you can go for post-graduation either in India or Abroad. If you want to keep your paths open you can take up an MMS ( Masters in Management Studies) or an MBA ( Masters in Business Administration ) otherwise you can also go for specific programs such as masters in Finance/Marketing. To seek admission in India for a Masters in Business Administration one has to sit for the CAT Exam or any other Management entrance test like NMAT, XAT, SNAP, IIFT. If you wish to apply abroad you have to check for the specific college and country requirements. You might have to take the GMAT exam or the GRE or in some cases, your IELTS score will only work.
