The National Institute of Design is one of the growing and popular fields for youngsters. Recently more than 450  B.des seats and around 30 M.des seats have been offered in five NID campuses of Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Assam.


NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is one of the popular and main entrance exams for the courses of B.des (Bachelor of Design) and M.des (Master of Design). The exam consists of DAT prelims and mains (for the shortlisted candidates). The DAT prelims have a 30% weightage of aptitude and a 70% weightage of design. The aptitude part includes questions of logical reasoning, general knowledge, current affairs, and English.


Exam Details

  • Test Duration
  • For B.des- 3 hours and M.des- 2.5 hours.
  • Mode of Exam
  • For B.des- pen and paper test and M.des - online.
  • Question pattern: both subjective and objective.
  • The total number of questions: are 26 questions (for B.des).
  • Total marks: 100.
  • Medium of exam: English.

 

Application Procedure

  • The first step to fill the application process begins with registration.
  • The candidates should visit the official site and start with registration.
  • The candidates should click on apply now and fill in the necessary details like name, mobile number, and email id.
  • After filling in all the details, candidates will get their login credentials for further filing of applications.
  • After using login credentials, candidates must complete application details like personal, address, and academic details.
  • The Candidates should carefully upload all the scanned documents, including photo id and passport photo.
  • After completing all the formalities and uploading all the scanned documents, candidates must pay a fee.

 

Studio Test

  • The studio test is also mandatory for the candidates and is followed by a personal interview.
  • The institute will not allow me to change the date of the studio test. This includes visualization skills, creativity, observation skills, knowledge, comprehension, and analytical ability.

Note -The National Institute of Design will issue admit cards separately for the studio test.


Eligibility Criteria

Age

  • For bachelor of design courses, the candidates who must have been born on or after 1 July 2000 are eligible to apply for admission.
  • For the master's of a design course, the candidates must have been born on or after July 1998 and be eligible to apply for admission.

Education Qualification

  • For bachelor of design courses, students must have completed their 10+2 education or equivalent from a recognized school or junior college.
  • For masters of design course. The students must have completed their bachelor’s degree (4 years preferable) from a recognised institute/college or university.

How to check NID DAT 2023 prelims result

  • Candidates should visit the result portal.
  • Click on the result link.
  • The login page will load; the result will upload after entering the email id/ roll number and given password.
  • The result will be displayed on the screen, and candidates can download their results and get a printout.

 

Weightage Details

 For the bachelor of design course

DAT prelims have 40% weightage, and DAT mains have 60% weightage.


For the Master of Design course

  • DAT prelims have a 30% weightage, the DAT mains studio test has a 40% weightage, and the personal interview has a 30% weightage.
  • (DAT mains for the M.Des is an offline campus exam).
