The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2026 examination is an important state-level entrance exam in Tamil Nadu. TANCET 2026: Exam Date

The TANCET 2026 exam date has been announced as 9 May 2026. The exam will be held on that date in an offline mode.

The M.C.A. examination will be held in the morning session from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon. The M.B.A. examination will be held in the afternoon session from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. 

To appear for the exam, all aspirants must strictly adhere to the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. No late entry will be permitted under any circumstances.

TANCET 2026: Eligibility Criteria

There is variation in TANCET 2026 eligibility criteria, based on whether one applies for the M.B.A. or M.C.A programme.

Eligibility Criteria for M.B.A. Aspirants

Aspirants for the M.B.A. course must hold a recognised bachelor’s degree of at least 3 years duration. They need to have secured a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination.

Those who belong to BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA and ST categories of Tamil Nadu will be deemed as eligible with 45% marks. Accepted academic patterns include 10+2 followed by 3, 4, or 5 years of study, 10+3 diploma followed by 2 or 3 years of study, or 10+2 with AMIE along with two years of experience.

A similar condition is applicable for candidates who hold a 10+3 diploma, awarded by the State Board of Technical Education, along with AMIE and 2 years of experience.

Eligibility Criteria for M.C.A. Aspirants

Aspirants for M.C.A. must have a recognised bachelor’s degree in B.C.A., B.Sc. Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.

Alternatively, candidates from other disciplines must have studied Mathematics at the 10+2 or graduation level.

As in the case of M.B.A., the minimum required marks remain 50% for the general category and 45% for the reserved categories of Tamil Nadu.

The academic patterns accepted for M.C.A. will remain the same as those accepted for M.B.A.

TANCET 2026: Application Form

The TANCET 2026 application form is available online exclusively from 16 March 2026. Each aspirant for the exam has to submit only one application. If multiple submissions are made, the application will be rejected.

While filling out the form, all details about qualifications must be submitted properly. Applicants should also have scanned copies of their photograph and signature in the prescribed dimensions and file size.

It is mandatory to enter a functional email ID and mobile number. All messages and information related to the examination are supposed to be communicated to exam applicants through these channels.

TANCET 2026: How to Apply Online?

Aspirants who plan to appear for TANCET 2026 and apply online are supposed to register themselves on the official portal. A login ID will be generated and a password must be created.

After logging in, the application form has to be filled out properly. Personal, academic and contact details must be entered correctly.

Next, scanned images of the photograph and signature have to be uploaded as per specifications.

Finally, the application fee for the examination must be paid through:

●       Debit card, 

●       Credit card, or 

●       Demand draft

Upon successful payment, applicants have to download and retain a copy of the completed application form. It is necessary to do so for their future reference.

TANCET 2026: Exam Pattern

The TANCET 2026 exam pattern is quite systematic. The examination will be conducted in offline mode as a theory-based test.

The total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes. Candidates are supposed to answer 100 objective-type questions in English.

Negative marking is applicable for this test. Candidates have to keep in mind that there will be a deduction of one-fourth mark for every incorrect answer. Marks will also be deducted in case of multiple shading for a single question; this will also be regarded as a wrong response.
