The Requirements of Digital Education

The education system has been through a rollercoaster of changes in the past decade alone. Schools throughout the nation were getting equipped with the best facilities for the students, and the whole system of CBSE education underwent a phase change towards a holistic education and examination system. However, nothing could have prepared schools for the sudden shock that was COVID-19. Due to this, schools again have to evolve their methods of teaching and examinations to ensure that students don’t suffer losses. The best way to do this is to yet again make a shift of educational procedures towards a more digital future. Here are the requirements of it:

Accessibility

The global pandemic has not only shut down schools, but also several businesses. Therefore, our internet providers are at a higher load than ever before which is creating problems for bandwidths across the nation. This causes concerns for using an online education platform that may increase loads on bandwidths and cause the online class to crash. Moreover, schools also need to accommodate for students from low-income backgrounds who cannot afford to buy a smartphone or laptop during these times.

Tools

Schools need to ensure that the digital education tool that they use has all the tools that may need to be used during the online classes. Video conferencing apps aren’t enough since they can’t do much else. Full-blown software suites like Microsoft Teams can serve the purpose, yet it is also expensive. Therefore, schools must make sure they can purchase they suite without creating a hike in the fees.

Training for Teachers

Many teachers across the nation aren’t tech-savvy. Due to this, they may have problems in running the software suite for online classes. The best thing to do here is to arrange training sessions for teachers to fully get accustomed with the online education tool of choice. Holding demo classes among teachers is a great way to get them accustomed with the software. However, it is essential that teachers are able to deal with mischievous students who intend to use the tool to disturb the class.

Adjustable Pace in Learning

One major problem that schools had in the offline education mode is allowing students to learn at paces they are comfortable with. This can fortunately be ensured in online medium with a few adjustments in the academic year planner. The education boards need to accommodate this and give schools the approval for an adjustable pace system. Also, it is important that schools don’t teach normal lectures at the same pace since most students won’t be used to studying at home.

With the above steps implemented, the online education system can rise up to the challenge of educating our future generations.
