Tips To Crack Any Job Interview

Interview, the most important part of your life that can prove to be a turning point if hired. Students study hard to get a better placement, freshers struggle to start their career and experience switch for better future prospects. Finding a job is difficult in this competitive era especially, where the majority have lost their job due to the pandemic and employers have candidates in abundance to choose from. The same goes with government exams like UPSC, IBPS, SBI PO and others which have candidates in thousands to interview and some hundreds get selected. In order to get hired, you must have the capability and tricks to make yourself stand out of the crowd.

Interviews are nothing but a normal conversation between the interviewer and interviewee. Interview being a formal conversation, mostly becomes a semi formal where the interviewer tries to make you feel comfortable to understand you as a person, as an employee and as a Leader. Here are a few tips to ensure that you crack your interview hassle free.

Tips to crack any Job Interview

Research about the Company

Reading company’s profile always tops the list for applying or interviewing with any company. Good research on the company will give you clarity on its profile. The interviewer also loves to know that the candidate he/she is interviewing is really interested in working with them. Acquire some knowledge in the same domain which will assure the interviewer that you are capable of working under minimal supervision. This also helps you in answering practical and unexpected questions thrown on you. A background knowledge and current situation of the market in the same domain will help the interviewer to understand that you are an intellect and can grasp things quickly. A research on your interviewer too can help you understand his/her mindset in order to prepare for the same.

Analyze the Job Description

After reviewing the company profile, comes the Job Description. The Job Description is the roles and responsibilities that one has to undertake if hired. It includes the skills, years of experience and qualification required to carry out the tasks daily. Therefore, it is imperative to understand the job description. You must try finding out the incidences where you have applied these skills at your work. In case you are a complete fresher, try remembering when you have applied the required skills in college or at any unexpected situation.

Polish your Skills

As soon as you understand the job description, start working on those skills. Skills may include any software that is important to carry out your duties successfully in the office. Practice makes the man perfect. If you know the  basics, practice it and try learning it in advance, at least have a fair knowledge about it to make the interviewer believe that you know the software and are eager to learn more. However, if you don't know about any particular software listed in the JD, make sure that you stand true to them. Lying to the interviewer will eventually create a negative impact on the interviewer.

Communicate effectively

Communication is the key to everything. You cannot just keep blabbering when the interviewer throws any question on you. There's a way to present yourself in front of your interviewer. Structure whatever you are about to answer. Take a minute or so to speak and start on a positive note. Keep your answer short and crisp that includes all the elements that the interviewer is expecting. Avoid answering in Yes or No as the interviewer expects a supporting explanation to whatever you say. Try to make the conversation light and not too formal but maintain your body language and formal tone.

Physical Appearance

Physical Appearance does matter when it comes to an interview. Your dressing and body language talks a lot about you in an interview. It reflects your behaviour and speaks a thousand words to a veteran. There are some etiquette of how to behave in an interview. Some are basics like dressing a formal set of clothes and making sure it looks simple and attractive. Some are advanced like Eye contact with the person you are interacting with.

Physical appearance shows the interviewer how confident and strong you are. Before even listening to a word, an interviewer knows who is capable and who is not. This is why when SBI PO aspirants work hard to clear the Personal Interview, their SBI PO result declares that they have come out of flying colours. Invest time learning these etiquettes and you’ll be loved by the interviewer on your first time entering the door.
