There are many courses in nursing one can do after class 12. However, if one has an arts or humanities streams in class 11 and 12, then ANM is the only course in nursing, which can be done.
It is a two year course and more basic than GNM, which is a 3 and a half year course. However, having said that, it teaches many basic skills of nursing to the students and makes them an efficient health care worker. Thus students with non-science stream, don’t despair; you can still do ANM in nursing. Once you have done ANM, you become eligible to join a GNM course and subsequently BSc basic or BSc post-basic course.
