CLAT 2026 Exam

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted at the UG and PG levels. Passing this exam is required for admission to the country's major National Law Universities (NLUs). The CLAT 2026 exam will be held on December 7, 2025.The law entrance exam has a 120-minute (2 hours) time slot and 120 questions. 

The CLAT paper pattern 2026 will consist of a total of 120 multiple-choice questions. These questions will be divided into five sections. The weightage of CLAT subjects will not be uniform across the five sections. The CLAT UG exam pattern is passage-based. It tests candidates' logical reasoning and comprehension.

CLAT 2026 has five subjects: English Language, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs, which includes General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques. The CLAT 2026 exam will be conducted for two hours. The CLAT PG exam consists of 120 objective-type questions.

CLAT Marking Scheme 2026

As per the CLAT marks distribution, each question in CLAT 2026 will carry one mark. There is also a provision for negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. The maximum marks in CLAT 2026 are 120. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions. 

Why is the CLAT exam conducted?

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted for admission to the 5-year LLB program offered by 26 participating NLUs and 60+ affiliated law schools. The CLAT will be conducted on December 7, 2025, in an offline, pen-and-paper-based mode.
