Have you ever applied for Multiple courses and colleges during your admission? Or if you doing that right now you might know that it is not easy to apply to all desired courses and colleges and keep a tab of all of them. Sometimes for different courses in the same college, you might have to apply separately. And over that, you have to appear for multiple entrance exams which are clustered over a week. Another aspect is that you have to pay a chunk of money to the conducting body. Usually, the entrance exam fees range from over 1000 rupees to 2000 or sometimes 3000 rupees. It is not very pocket friendly for all of us and especially for our economically weaker friends. They have to give up on their dream universities and courses simply because it is not feasible for them and their families.
But this might not be the case from 2021 and for years ahead. The ministry of education has proposed Central University Common Entrance Test. the test was previously conducted by a few central universities which came up after 2009 but now Over 54 central universities including Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University are participating. Not just the central Universities a lot of state universities also participate and accept the exam scores. This will be great news for students and especially for those belonging to the weaker section as they now just have to pay for one form which will open doors for the courses they like in various renowned institutes.
It is also a piece of great news for students who do not like sitting for exams multiple times. They have to just sit for the CUCET if their dream is to get into one of the central and state Universities.
With a lot of pros comes some cons. When students are happy about one exam and a great opportunity they also fear that this will be their first and last chance. They will have to compete nationwide and score exceptionally well if they are targeting a top Central university college.
The Government has praised the decision for conducting CUCET to give a fair chance representation for people from all walks of life.
