Labour and employment department is going to set up the Indian institute of skills along with the TATA group at Nasmed village of Gandhinagar. A high-power team from the TATA group gave a presentation. ACS Vipul Mittra, Labour & employment dept asked TATAs to start out the work asap. TATAs gave the plan of action to the department and can commence adding it in a short time.
Gujarat government will pull out work for IIS at Nasmed which is about 20 km from Ahmedabad, which is aimed toward providing training in highly specialized areas. Government has allotted around 20-acre land for TATAs to start out IIS.

The Indian Institute of Skill is being developed on a NOT-FOR-PROFIT public-private partnership mode by the TATA group alongside the states Labour and employment department. While the government has given the land for the institute, TATA education development trust is contributing the capital investment.
