This year is not only important about the number but it is also the beginning year where 10 new regional languages have been introduced for the exam. Almost 1.5 lakh students will be giving the four cycle-based exams in 12 Indian languages. According to the last date of registration 23rd January 2021, the number of candidates opting for the Indian language was 1,49,621 and among these students almost have chosen the Hindi language as the exam medium. Gujrat with 44094 students and West Bengal with 24841 candidates are the two top states having the highest numbers of students choosing regional languages.
Besides the high demand for regional language, the registration number for the exams has risen dramatically this year. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana have almost 2 lakhs of applicants each for this exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has a prediction that the number of registrations will increase after the three cycles of March, April, and May because the registration portal will be opened again.
JEE Main is a very important exam through which many students can take admissions to the National Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Information Technology, and many other government-aided institutes. This also opens the door for JEE Advanced and the IITs.
