JoSAA and CSAB Counseling: B.Tech admission in India isn't just about passing the JEE exam, but also about participating in the counseling process. Seats in the country's top engineering colleges are allocated by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). There are some differences between the two counseling authorities. Both are involved in seat allocation for engineering colleges, but there are some key differences that every candidate should be aware of before applying. So, here are five key differences between the two.
What is JoSAA?
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authority responsible for managing the entire seat allocation process for IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other government-funded technical institutions (GFTIs). Its primary function is to conduct the seat allocation process in engineering colleges in a centralized and transparent manner. To participate in the JoSAA seat allocation process, students must pass the JEE Main and Advanced exams.
What is CSAB?
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is the authority that conducts the seat allocation process for engineering, technology, and other programs at NITs, IIESTs, IIITs, SPAs, and GFTIs. Candidates who have not registered or qualified for JoSAA, or who wish to fill vacant seats, can apply. Some CSAB rounds consider other special categories, such as home state quotas or reserved category seats.
Difference between JoSAA and CSAB
JoSAA counseling typically takes place around June-July, immediately after the JEE Advanced results. Registration, choice filling, and seat allocation occur on a fixed schedule. CSAB counselling takes place after the JoSAA round is over.
