The UGC does not recommend the cancellation of the final semester or final year examinations, as decided by the higher regulators in the meeting. The universities and the colleges are advised to assess the graduating batch through the examination conducted in the earlier examinations. The regulator has been decided to take its alternative time table and advised the institutions to hold the exams by September end.
Earlier the UGC had released the indicative academic calendar for all the higher education institutions on April 29. He had prescribed that the universities should conduct the final year or terminal semester exam from July 1 to July 15 and will declare the results at the end of the month.
The senior officer at UGC had said that’ “For students who cannot appear for the final semester or final year exam, the universities will hold a special exam after September. And those who could not pass the exam will also be allowed to improve.”
Although the guideline was based on the recommendations of the committee which was headed by the vice-chancellor of Haryana Central University. The guidelines had been revised by the UGC as it was not clear whether the exams will be conducted or not in the states.
