Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is conducted by 22 Law Universities (NLU’s) of India on a rotational basis. This test is conducted to select students for UnderGraduate and Postgraduate law programs. Candidates interested in law studies need to qualify for this exam to get admission to one of the various renowned law universities all over India. This article will list all the necessary details that the students demand to know related to the CLAT 2021.

CLAT date has been revised to 13th June 2021, and application forms were released on 1st January 2021.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Common Law of Admission Exam:

For  Under Graduate Programme:

•        Qualification: Candidates should get a minimum required percentage in the 12th examination from any recognized board or university to be eligible for CLAT.

•        Percentage: Students from the General/ Other Backward Class category must score a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying exam. The students from SC/ST background require at least 40 % to be eligible.

For  Post Graduate Programme:

•        Qualification: Candidates interested in the exam must have qualified LLB or any other qualifying examination to be eligible.

•        Percentage: Students from the General category must score a minimum of 50% marks, whereas the reserved category candidates require a minimum aggregate of 45% to be eligible for the exam.

 

Registration Process for CLAT Exam:

•        Application form needs to be filled and submitted online.

•        Candidates need to provide a valid email id and phone number in the application form while registering for CLAT.

•        Scanned passport size photograph and signature in the prescribed format and size are to be uploaded by the candidate with the form.

•        If students need to make any changes in the application form, then there is a CLAT Application correction facility, which will be provided to students for a given period.

•        Students should take a print out of the filled form for any further use.

 

Application Fee for CLAT:

•        Application Fee varies from category to category. 

General/OBC/PwD/SAP category candidates have to submit Rs. 4000 as application charges for the exam.

SC/ST category students need to pay Rs. 3000 for the application form.

•        The application fee should be submitted by the candidate through online mode(credit card/debit card).

 

Important dates for CLAT 2021:

•        Application Form – 1st January 2021

•        Last date to apply for CLAT 2021 – 31st March 2021

•        Last date for paying the online fee – 4th week of March

•        Admit Cards will be available from the 3rd week of April

•        CLAT 2021 Exam – 13th June 2021

•        Answer Key Publish – Not yet Announced 

•        Result Declaration- Not yet Announced

 

CLAT 2021 Exam Pattern:

       Exam Mode: CLAT 2021 examination will be an offline mode paper. Students need to go to their respective centers to give this paper in pen- paper-based mode.

       Time Duration: The time duration provided for CLAT 2021 will be 2 hours. Students would not be allotted extra time for finishing the exam.

       Question Type: The questions will be asked in the Multiple Choice Questions based format. Candidates will be given 4 choices, out of which they will have to select the most suitable option as their answer.

       Number of Questions: There will be 150 questions in total for the UG and PG level exam.

       Language: All Questions in CLAT 2021 will be in the English language.

       Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be given to each correct answer, and the 0.25 mark will be reduced for each incorrect answer.

 

CLAT 2021 Exam Syllabus:

 

The syllabus for the Common Law of Admission Test includes the below mentioned five sections.

1.       English( Including Comprehension)

2.       General Knowledge and Current Affairs

3.       Mathematics

4.       Legal Aptitude

5.       Logical Reasoning

Candidates need to study these areas in detail. Some of the topics included in these subjects are mentioned below.

1.       English including comprehension: Understanding of the passage and it’s core theme, the meaning of the words used in the passage, and fill in the blanks.

2.       General Knowledge and Current Affairs: It will include national and international happenings related to various areas, general knowledge questions and 

many more.

3.       Mathematics: This section will check the elementary knowledge of the candidates 

based upon their previous years of studies.

4.       Legal Aptitude: Topics included under this subject are the study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability.

5.       Logical Reasoning:  Various questions are included in this subject, such as syllogism, logical sequences or analogies, etc.

 

Preparation Tips for CLAT 2021

Though students need to find out their methods to study and understand various topics, some of the common tips and tricks for the preparation of this exam are:

       Make a short term goal to complete a topic in a limited time and strictly follow that goal.

       Go through the syllabus and pattern properly before the preparation and study according to the exam pattern only.

       Solving previous year’s papers and mock tests is quite helpful. They will help in keeping a track of the speed to solve questions and in which area one needs more practice.

       Doing regular revision is quite essential to keep the topics fresh in mind.

       Don’t overburden yourself with the exam pressure. Take a healthy diet and do activities to keep your mind focused.

CLAT 2021 Admit Card

CLAT admit card will be available online on the official website. Students need to log in with their credentials to open their account and download the admit card. It is the mandatory document that students need to carry at the time of examination. CLAT admit card will contain all the necessary details like name of the candidate, roll no., time to reach exam hall, timings of the exam, center for the exam, etc. Students need to thoroughly read the instructions mentioned in the admit card and follow them.

CLAT Cutoff

Cut off for the examination is based on different factors such as candidates appearing for the paper, marks scored by candidates in the exams, level of difficulty of the paper, and much more. Cut off will be available only after the declaration of the result for session 2021. Candidates who will reach the cut off eligibility will be contacted further for counseling.

CLAT Counselling 2021

Once the CLAT result and the cut-offs are out for batch 2021, the authority will move forward will the counseling process. There are limited seats available so, the students will be selected based upon their ranks and category. After meeting the eligibility requirement of the cut-off, students will have to pay Rs. 50,000 as counseling fee to participate in the process. This counseling is mandatory for all category students. Admissions will be given only after collecting the fees and verification of the documents submitted by the students.

Q: Can I give the exam in an online mode?

A: No, the exam is conducted in offline mode only, and students and required to give in pen-paper based.

Q: Will there be any negative marking on the exam?

A: Yes, 0.25 marks will be reduced for every incorrect answer.

Q: Is it possible to get a refund of the application fee if paid once?

A: No, the application fee is non-refundable.

Q; How many times the CLAT exam is organized in a year? 

A: This exam is conducted only once a year. Students should keep a check on the dates to fill the application form to avoid skipping a year.

Q: Is there any specific age limit for CLAT?

A: No, there is no such specific age limit for the Common Law Admission Test.
