• Bachelor’s degree: Bachelors in Hospital Administration (BHA) or Bachelors in Hospital Management (BHM) is as 3-year full time program. Selection procedure is based on entrance exams conducted by reputed colleges. After completing graduation one can directly apply for a job or go for a postgraduate degree.

• Masters degree: One can either enroll for Masters in Hospital Administration (MHA) or an MBA in healthcare management with minimum 50% marks in graduation in any stream and after qualifying one of the MBA entrance exams. It is a 2-year full time course divided into 4 semesters.

• Hospital administrators. Hospital administrators make sure that all the services provided by the healthcare institution runs smoothly and patients receive treatment on time. They also recruit medical and non-medical staff. In a large hospital, there may be separate hospital administrators for each department.

• Medical director: Medical directors make sure that treatment is provided on time in a proper manner at clinics, blood banks, hospital etc. They deal with grievances that a patient may have. They follow medical ethics and maintain transparency of the organization.

• Healthcare finance managers: These professionals look after the day to day financial activities of healthcare institutions and take the entire responsibility of budgeting, financial analysis, financial planning and keep a track of the daily financial activities. This job profile is dynamic as the managers are required to remain updated about the latest insurance and healthcare financial regulations.

• Medical and Health service managers: Hospital management graduates also gets an opportunity to work as medical and health service managers who plans, directs and coordinates all healthcare services offered by the healthcare service provider so that the services are delivered efficiently and timely.

• Blood bank administrator: The three most important functions of a blood bank are receipt, proper storage and delivery. A blood bank administrator is the key person who looks after these functions. This is how they manage inventory and coordinate all operational functions.
