The nursing college in PGI is called The National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE). It is an integral part of PGI campus and is affiliated to the PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Nursing Institute at PGI is the WHO Collaborative Centre for Nursing and Midwifery development since 2003.
The nursing institute is offering opportunities to students to become nurses in many capacities. It also offers advanced studies in the field of nursing. At present the institute is running three educational programmes in five specialities.

Admission Details for Nursing Courses at PGI, Chandigarh:
- Admissions to Nursing Institute is made once in a year.
- The admission notice is published in some of the leading newspapers of India.
- This notice is issues after 20th April of every year.
- The prospectus and the application form can be bought from the office of Principal, Nursing Institute after the admission notice.
- There is an entrance exam for selection to these courses.
- The entrance examination is scheduled in the month of June for M.Sc. Nursing
- Academic session starts from 16th July for M.Sc. Nursing.
- It is scheduled in August for both B.Sc. Nursing (4 yrs) and B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic) courses.
- Session starts from 1st September for the B.Sc. Nursing courses.

Candidates from other countries should send their applications through the Government of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi. Eligibility Certificate has to be obtained from the Registrar, PGIMER Chandigarh; clearance certificate is to be got from the Indian Nursing Council and to be submitted along with the application.

Ph.D in Nursing is a part-time study facility for in-service candidates only. Duration of the course is 3 years, but it can be extended for another two years with permission of Doctoral Committee Members. The admissions are twice the year; once in January and the other in July. Seats are not specified.
Eligibility Criteria for Nursing Courses at PGI, Chandigarh
B.Sc Nursing
- 10+2 passed with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, & English or any other equivalent examination
- Minimum 50% marks in total.
- Student should not be more than 17 years on 1st September of the admission year.
B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic)
- 10+2 or any other examination equivalent to 10+2.
- Should have passed General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
- Should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized Institute
- Should be registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC)
- Or any substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.
- Should not be more than 45 years on 1st September of the admission year.
M.Sc Nursing
- Should have passed BSc Nursing or Post Basic from a college recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and PGIMER, Chandigarh
- Should have at least 55% marks in total.
- Should have at least one year of work experience after registration as Registered Nurse & registered Midwife in clinical bedside nursing in a minimum 100 bedded hospital (This is applicable for private hospitals only and does not apply to government hospitals)
- Or should have one year experience in Nursing Institutions recognized by the Indian Nursing Council after B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) or before and after Post Basic Nursing.
- Should be registered as approved by Indian Nursing Council as a Nurse and Registered Midwife or should have a substitute registration in the case of male candidate fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children.
